RIGHTEOUSNESS

RIGHTEOUSNESS 2 Corinthians 5:14-21  Devotional:- “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (V. 21) NKJV It is because of the love of God that we are called the people of God today (Romans 9:25). This has created an eternal problem for the devil. In the Old Testament, many people tried to please God, but they were not able, and this brought destruction upon them. The Bible mentioned that Jesus, when He died, went to hell to free the saints (1 Peter 3:19). These are men who had lived all their lives to obey the law, yet were not able to reach the mark of righteousness. Today, the righteousness they were not able to attain, we have effortlessly attained. This is not because we are better than they were, but because we are children born in due season. This is the righteousness referred to in the scripture as imputed righteousness (Romans 4:6-8). This righteousness is given to us through faith in the Lord Jesus Chri...

PURSUE HOLINESSS

PURSUE HOLINESSS

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 12:12-17
Devotional:- “Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:” (V. 14) NKJV

Holiness is the standard of God’s attitude. That is why the Bible says that “God is a Holy God” (Leviticus 19:2). Holiness is perfection. It is living without a blemish. It is living a life of total surrendered life unto God. This is a life that is always obedience unto God in all things. It is a life totally separated and sanctified unto God (Romans 12:1).

Surely, this is not an experience expected from a baby Christian. Yet, it is expected from a mature Christian. The word of God says “nothing unholy will enter heaven” (Revelation 21:8). And, if heaven is our destination, then we must pursue to live a life of holiness unto God. To pursue is to run after something (1 Peter 1:15). It is to set it as a goal and work toward it. We are not to put it aside thinking that it is not possible.

Friend, you and I will need to pursue holiness to see God. To pursue means, to make it our target. To always aim at it. While we are yet to get there, we don’t relax. We make it part of our life race. So that, we can be an acceptable vessel to God. We must be careful not to fall short of the grace of God. We must flee from bitterness and pursue peace with people and holiness. Peace.

PRAYER: Lord, strengthen me to keep pursuing peace and holiness.
