BORN TO WIN

Image
BORN TO WIN 1 John 5:1-5 Devotional:- “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world-our faith.” (V. 4) NKJV God is great, mighty and victorious. No one can challenge His power and authority. They’ve not given birth to the devil that can face God. He has on several occasions given the devil a public disgrace (Colossians 3:15). When God created man, He expected him to cheaply overcome the enemy. But the first man fell into the devil’s trick. Because God cannot fail, He did not create a second Adam but gave birth to Him. There is power in this. He discovered that the first Adam did not perfectly resemble Him in strength and power. So He decided to give birth to the second Adam, in the person of Jesus. So He is referred to as the firstborn among the living. God has not born anyone before Him. Whatever you give birth to will carry your strength. Friend, that is why, since that time, people become Christians not by coming to churc...

CREATED TO RULE

Image
CREATED TO RULE Genesis 1:26-31 Devotional:- “God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”” (V. 28) NIV The major purpose of creating man was to rule over the earth. This is because the purpose of a product is in the assignment given to it to carry out. The reason why God wanted us to rule the earth was to make us represent Him here, to disallow the enemy from ruling the earth. So our rulership was a delegation. It is very clear in the scripture, God’s manual of man, that we are created to rule. That is, to take over, take control and have dominion over the earth. A producer is only successful when the product serves the purpose of production. When authority is delegated to a man, it often comes with a measure of power and liberty to operate it. This entails that man should not be hindered by anything to achieve ...

SPECIAL CHILDREN

Image
SPECIAL CHILDREN Proverbs 23:15-25  Devotional:- “Do not let your heart envy sinners, But be zealous for the fear of the LORD all the day” (V.17) NKJV Today, the lives of children in most nations are becoming a great trouble. Many parents have lost control of their children. But in the midst of these hopeless situations of the future generation, yet some children allow the word of God to rule their lives, such children have the fear of God in them. These are children who keep a wise heart and who have learnt the right use of their lips. Who don’t open their lip to speak just anything but the truth and wisdom (Proverbs 23:16). These are children who don’t envy the way of sin, nor do they get themselves involved in the sinful nature of this generation. Rather, they fear the Lord, and this affects everything they do (Proverbs 23:17). Most of the youths of this day go into untimely relationships and cheating everywhere because of fear of failure and fear of tomorrow. But these p...

PARENT OF THE GREAT

Image
PARENT OF THE GREAT Exodus 2:1-10 Devotional:- “So the woman conceived and bore a son. And when she saw that he was a beautiful child, she hid him three months..” (V. 2) NKJV. Anything you see that is great in life was incubated by some great people. If you can see anyone becoming great in life, you can easily trace the history back to the parents. I found something funny in this world: everyone wants their children to be great, but they don't bother to raise them for this purpose. People are wise enough to raise chickens for different purposes – some for laying eggs and some for consumption – but few are raising children with the purpose of leadership. We often expect the children to just grow and be great by luck or chance. If you observe great people in the Word of God, you can easily trace it back to their parents. This you can see in the lives of Isaiah, Joseph, David and others. I think it will be funny to sow maize and expect to reap yams. Moses, as we read today, was born...

LIVING WITH VISION

Image
LIVING WTH VISION Proverbs 29:17-25  Devotional:- “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he” (v. 18) KJV People may not be able to enjoy the best of God’s love until they live with a vision. God only releases provision for a vision. If you have your vision of life, and you are ready to pursue it, then you can be too sure of a glorious tomorrow. This is because God will do everything to see to the fulfilment of your vision. All God-given visions are capable of building a great destiny. Vision is an insight into the plan and programme of God for your life. Since it has to do with insight, it can only be revealed or unfolded. So it will take waiting on the Lord to receive the revelation of God concerning your life (Habakkuk 2:1). Waiting here simply means consciously standing in God’s presence to see into His mind for you. God’s vision for His children are in dieverse ways. It could be in the area of business, production, service, or...

CHOICE OF JOY

Image
CHOICE OF JOY Acts 16:20-30 Devotional:- “But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.” (V.25) NKJV So many people in this world have not woken up to the fact that the way they live is their choice. One of the greatest errors is to think that the situation a man finds himself, is the determining factor of his life. This is not true. Please come to an awareness of this truth from now on: that you are living as you have chosen to live. Get to know that you are a creature of choice. Whatever your choice is, that is your lot. God chooses no evil for anyone in life (Jeremiah 29:11). Whether you are happy or not, whether you are rich or not, whether you are healthy or not, it is your choice; if you decide otherwise from now and stand by your decision, things will change for you. Paul and Silas were in prison because of the gospel of Jesus Christ, but they had the right understanding that their circumstances should not determi...

FORGIVING YOURSELF

Image
FORGIVING YOURSELF Luke 22:54-62  Devotional:- “So Peter went out and wept bitterly.bitterly.” (V.62) NKJV Before a man can begin to enjoy the expressive love of God in his life, he must learn the act of self-forgiveness. Self-condemnation is always a terrible permission for the devil to take over in the life of a believer. This can make him lose his self-worth in God’s presence. It can make a believer lose his authority in Christ. It can make a believer lose his joy and build an environment of sorrow. And you need to know that the environment of sorrow removes from you the presence of God. He only dwells where there is fullness of joy (Psalms 16:11). Unforgiveness can make a man build an atmosphere of fear and then permit the presence of demons. This also breeds discouragement and frustration and makes the life of its victim miserable. The wonderful thing in the scripture we read today is that, though Peter denied Christ publicly and committed a grievous sin, he did not let...

VALUE YOURSELF

Image
VALUE YOURSELF 1 Peter 2:1-10  Devotional:- “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;” (V. 9) NKJV If anyone is going to enjoy the love of God, he must see himself as lovely. One of the ways for someone to see themselves as lovely is by valuing themselves. You need to know that of all the creatures of God, not only on earth but also in heaven, you are the most special. According to the word of God, there is no other creature that is as valuable as you are. You are the reason for the labour of the devil (1 Peter 5:8). You are the envy of the demons. You are the envy of the angels. A great percentage of the angels are serving the heirs of salvation (Hebrews 1:14). The scripture we read today calls you a chosen one. That is, among the multitude, God selected you out for Himself. You are a royal priesthood, that is, you are a kingly priest...

ACKNOWLEDGING HIM

Image
ACKNOWLEDGING HIM Proverbs 3:1-8  Devotional:- “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (v.6) KJV. To be able to enjoy God’s loving kindness, all of us must learn to always acknowledge God in all our decision-making. This simply means that we recognise Him as our owner and the one who is qualified to instruct us on where to turn. When we gave our lives to Christ, we all confessed Jesus as our Lord. This means we acknowledge Him as the one who has the final decision over our lives. But we often forget to carry Him along in making decisions that will, in the end, have a great adverse effect on our lives. If we are to enjoy the love and the goodness of the Lord, we must learn to acknowledge Him. And this is by patiently asking Him for His instructions for us. The truth is that He will always guide us. He said, “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye” (Psalms 32:8). The truth is that you are gu...

GOOD SPOUSE

Image
GOOD SPOUSE 1 Corinthians 7:1-5 Devotional:- “Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband” (v.3) NKJV One of the greatest places where God expects love to be demonstrated is in the family, and most strongly between the husband and wife. It is a pity that this generation does not have many spouses enjoying true love in their relationships. Many have turned the home into a children-producing factory, and there is nothing strong that ties them together. And today, men can no longer understand the purpose of God for instituting marriage. The scripture we read today gives us some great instruction for our distinction in this world of destruction. God’s word says, "Each should render to one another due affection." Affection is love. God expects you to love each other (1 John 4:7). It is as you love each other that the atmosphere is created for God to mend and amend things in the house. Understand that the word 'love'...

ENVY NO ONE

Image
ENVY NO ONE Genesis 37:1-11  Devotional:- “And his brothers envied him, but his father kept the matter in mind.” (V.11) NKJV For a man to enjoy God’s love being wonderfully demonstrated to him, he must constitute a habit of not envying anyone. This is the reason why many cannot demonstrate genuine love to others. It is time you begin to understand that your value is not comparable. Envy is an emotional act people put on when they feel someone is better than them. Envy is always the mother of negative jealousy. It breeds bitterness and pushes people to commit all kinds of crimes. Some people’s reason for being armed robbers is that since they could not make it legitimately, they must go and get it by force from the hands of those who have made it. The truth is that there is no one who cannot make it. The problem with Joseph’s brother was that they did not know the truth of the word of God. As children of Abraham, all of them are already pronounced as successful in life. Josep...

DON'T HATE

Image
DON’T HATE Matthew 5:43-48  Devotional:- “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,” (V. 44) NKJV The subject of love is not always easy to practise between you, and those who have shown themselves as committed enemies. Those who will openly stand against you. Those who just hate you for no reason. Those who don’t pray that anything good should happen to you. Yet the Bible gave us a commandment in the midst of it all to love and never to hate them. What a great task! But until a Christian grows to this level, he cannot actually be called mature. The way to handle it is that we should bless those who curse us. Always do good to those who hate you. If they are moved by the spirit in them to do evil to you, be moved by the Spirit in you to love them. We cannot truly say we love till we can prayerfully demonstrate the character of love. In your time, consciously me...

BEING HELP

Image
BEING HELP Romans 12:9-20 Devotional:- “Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality” (V. 13) NIV There is hardly anyone in the world who does not need help, except that they are not making any move to make something happen. So help is a need of people who are looking forward, people who have vision or people who are pursuing a life goal. If you consider yourself in need of help, then you are just one of the people on the path of success. This help could vary from the need for the right people’s assistance, counselling, or money and material. We need to understand with clarity that at any period in time, we will surely reap what we have sown (Galatians 6:7). And so we must keep sowing help into the life of others to reap help. The bible says, “Share with people who are in need“ Let us be careful not to be too need-conscious that you don’t remember to do good to others. There are people you are far better off. There are people around us who look at us as priv...

LEARN AND RELATE

Image
LEARN TO RELATE Romans 12:14-21  Devotional:- “Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited” (v. 16) NIV. We live in a world today that promotes youthful excesses more than that of the mature. We do this in the name of youthful innovations. That is why no office wants to employ relatively old individuals any more. It’s a competitive world. This is making a greater percentage of the world fail in the area of relationships. This is because it is a youthful idea to think you don’t need others. The world of this age is trying to build self-sufficient people. This is the reason many have not learnt the wisdom of relationships. For this reason, today, many people don’t have a home. Many have lost their job and joy. Many have missed many opportunities. The scripture we read today teaches us the right attitude to enjoy a relationship with others. Be careful of pride or overvaluing yourself (Romans 12:...

CHILDREN OF GOD

Image
CHILDREN OF GOD I John 3:1-3  Devotional:- “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him” (V.1) NKJV One of the unique things on earth is that, each one belongs to one family or the other. Some are from a great family, their name sounds great, and others are from a family that is not well-known. The truth is that, the lineage each of us belongs to, sometimes speaks and shows in our live. Those who are seen as children of great people in the world are often counted as privileged. But the scripture we read today is aimed at making you appreciate the privilege of being a child of God. It doesn’t matter whether you are born into a great family on earth or not. God has decided to bestow His love on you by calling you His child (Galatians 4:7). This is the greatest family in heaven and earth. The moment you are born again, you are born of God (John 1:12). Not of...

GIFT AND GRACE

Image
GIFT AND GRACE Romans 12:3-8 Devotional:- “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith”(V. 6) NIV   One of the means through which we can demonstrate our love to others is by using the grace and the gifts that are in our lives. As a child of God, you are privileged to enjoy two levels of gifts. The first are the talents and gifts. The second are the gifts of the Holy Spirit. There is no one who is not talented in one area or the other. It may be to cook, sing, design, draw or write. It could also be in the area of sport or decoration. But as a child of God, there is another dimension of gifts in your life given by the Holy Spirit. These are gifts of prophecy, healing, knowledge, wisdom, working of miracles, discernment of spirit, diverse tongues or interpretation of tongues (1 Corinthians 12:6-10). If you don’t know that you have any of this gift, it is because you have not care...

STAND IN

Image
STAND IN 1 Timothy 2:1-7  Devotional:- “Here are my directions: Pray much for others; plead for God's mercy upon them; give thanks for all he is going to do for them.” (v.1) TLB . When God lifts a man, such a man must have enjoyed the intercessory ministry of others. It is part of the principle of God for us to receive (Matthew 7:7). This is because He does not want to break into our free will and damage our choice. He does not want to break into our decision. That is why we say it sometimes when an event happens, "Did God not see it?” Until He is asked to do something, He finds it difficult to do it. Rather, if He wants to promote a man and the man is not aware, He will touch other people to pray for him.  That is why you and I must also be willing to pray and stand in the gap for others. Paul was instructing Timothy and all of us as members of the body of Christ to pray for others. There are so many people around you who need one thing or another. Even though you ca...

RELEASING OTHERS

Image
RELEASING OTHERS Matthew 18:21-35   Devotional:- "So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses” (V. 35) NKJV Men can easily shout, “Away with him, kill him,” to others because they are not the offender. Very many parents will bitterly discipline their children for an offence they too have committed in the past, for which they were not killed. It is always easy to be a judge, though most judges cannot stand the face of trial. That is why the word of God instructs us not to judge others (Matthew 7:1-6). The scripture we read today reveals the wickedness of men. A man who owed his master so much, just like we all owe God so much. He was forgiven by his master, but cannot forgive his fellow servant. He rather locked him up in police custody for torment. His master heard and also reversed his decision on him for judgement.  Friend, who are the people you have refused to forgive? No matter what they...

LOVE CIRCLE

Image
LOVE CIRCLE John 15:5-12  Devotional:- “This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you” (V.12) NKJV The love circle is not yet complete, except for the love we have for the people around us. There is a circle of love just like we have a carbon cycle in nature. Today, many consider the level of God's grace in dispensing to them to be too low. But little did we often consider one of the strongest principles of God that gave birth to the love circle. This is the law of sowing and reaping (Galatians 6:7). The love circle simply shows that God loves us so that we might love others. And as we show our love to others, God also love us more.  We all know that we live in a hostile world full of hatred and bitterness. Yet the bible did not leave us with an option of neglecting them but commanded us to love them. Loving others is in obedience to God’s commandment and not because they deserve it. We should also know that we do not deserve God’s love. You don’...

LISTEN TO HIM

Image
LISTEN TO HIM John 10:1-10  Devotional:- “And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice” (V.4) NKJV If we are going to enjoy the love of God, then we must learn to listen to Him and follow Him. Shepherds are often very caring. They always take good care of the sheep. They help them locate where green grass is And take the sheep there. They even sit down with the sheep till they fill their belly with green pasture. They take them to where there is good water and sometimes get the water for them to drink so as to be satisfied. This is because every shepherd is fulfilled by looking at his sheep, who are healthy and well-fed. Jesus is the shepherd of our souls (John 10:11). He wants to lead us to the best in life, but we must listen to and follow Him (Psalm 23:1). You need to recognise His voice. The scripture we read today said, “…his sheep know His voice.” The voice of the Lord is His word. Whatever He is going to ...

HOPING IN GOD

Image
HOPING IN GOD Psalms 71:4-14  Devotional:- “For You are my hope, O Lord GOD; You are my trust from my youth” (V.5) NKJV In today's world, many people are finding it difficult to put their hope in God. This is because they have waited for a few times, which to them is rather too long (Proverbs 13:12). And now they’ve made their calculation that if they have hoped in God for these three years and nothing is coming forth, then what is the need for continuing to hope? It is why many people in civilised nations have been living their lives unwilling to carry God along. We often forget that without Him we can do nothing (John 15:5). Everything we can do or shall do should be by His permission. The most common error among Christians is that we often don’t understand the power of hope or the difference between hope and faith. Hope is consistently keeping in mind the promises God has made to us, because we know He can do what He has promised (Hebrews 10:23). This helps us grow in wis...

LOOKING UNTO HIM

Image
LOOKING UNTO HIM Psalms 34:1-7 Devotional:- “They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed” (V. 5) NKJV To enjoy the love of God for us, we must learn to keep looking unto Him. The scripture says, they looked unto him and were not ashamed. No one trusts in Him who will be ashamed at the end. It is amazing that Joseph, whom they sold as a slave, eventually became a ruler. Because that is God’s plan for Him (Genesis 45:1-9). Amazingly, Abraham, who had no children for almost a hundred years, at last became the father of eight children before he died (Genesis 25:1-2, 9). These are proofs of God’s faithfulness. Because He also has a plan for each of us, He does not want us to be discouraged or frustrated, but rather to keep looking unto Him. This is because He has a plan for us, and it shall surely come to pass. That is why He said, "I know the plans that I have for you; they are not of evil, but good, to give you a hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11). H...

SERVE HIM

Image
SERVE HIM John 12:20-30  Devotional:- “If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor” (V. 26) NKJV One of the demands of love is a sense of responsibility towards one another. A very sincere definition of love is responsibility. True love is known in willingness to serve each other. Your level of love for a man is determined by the level of commitment you have to his life and destiny. You cannot prove that you love someone without showing a strong level of responsibility to such. This means true love is embedded in serving one another. One of the strong teachings of Jesus to us, as His lover, is that we must be ready to lay down our lives in service to bless others, as He did for us. That is why He said, “He who loves his life shall lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life” (John 12:25). Unless we are willing to sow and be sown in service, we may not p...
