  GRUMBLING I Corinthians 10:1-13 Devotional:- “nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer” (v.10) NKJV The act of grumbling is a means through which the enemy carefully removes the joy of many. Grumbling is a silent reaction to an instruction or a responsibility you must undertake. It is not feeling free to express one's mind about what one is satisfied with. People grumble against God about their challenges. They also grumble against their masters or bosses in the office. When the children of Israel were going through the wilderness, they were faced with several needs on their way, and each time they tried to shift blame to God, who had mercy on them and organised to put them in Canaan. When they lack water, they grumble; when it is meat, they grumble, and God sent the angel of destruction to destroy them.   WORRY Luke 12:22-31 Devotional:- “And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?” (v.25) NKJV Another cheap way for the enemy to steal the joy of people on the earth is by making them worry about issues of life. For many, it is difficult to separate worrying from being thoughtful. It is often said by experts that, only a small percentage of men use their brains to solve their problems, and this means the rest take up anxiety and worry. So many people on earth are victims of worry. The truth is that your life is not designed for sorrow. That is why sorrow brings pain to your system. It is alien to your nature. Worry is making a survey of your problems, magnifying your situation and bringing you to a pit of pity. This does no good to no one; it rather increases your fear and failure.   DELAY Proverbs 13:10-20 Devotional:- “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life” (v.12) NKJV Another strong factor militating against the joy of some people today is delay. This is an experience of expectation proving longer in coming than expected. It makes a man afraid or uncertain of what the future holds. It often weakens the faith of people and makes them feel disappointed. The word of God in our scripture today says it brings weariness to the soul. We must realise that weariness given by delay is a hindrance to our receiving from God. The more we allow weariness, the more we may be delayed. It is a trick of the enemy to keep postponing our miracles. That is why the word of God says the just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17). It is also a threat to our joy.   FEAR 1 John 4:11-21 Devotional:- “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love” (v.18) NKJV Among the attitudes that hinder the flow of joy is the attitude of fear. Wherever there is fear, joy cannot be there. This is because peace is like a bed that joy normally sits on. Since the opposite of peace is fear. It becomes impossible to have joy with fear. This is the major problem with many, whom we refer to as great or rich. They find it difficult to have joy simply because of the fear in their heart. Sources of fear include sin, disobedience to instruction, not living within your size, shady deals and non-believing in the word of God.   CONDEMNATION Romans 8:1-8 Devotional:- “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit” (v.1) NKJV Condemnation is often mistakenly taken as one of the behaviours of the righteous, and by it, the enemy often steals the joy of many. What most people feel like expressing is the fact that being sober brings us to a time of quality self-examination. But this has nothing to do with condemnation (2 Corinthians 7:10).   PRETENDING Proverbs 13:1-10 Devotional:- “There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing; And one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches” (v.7) NKJV One other instrument of the devil to steal people’s joy is to fill their hearts with pretence. To pretend is to behave or talk like, or put yourself in a status, that you are not. It is to use what you don’t have to impress people who do not like you. It is to give people a false impression about you. This always results in a show of shame and sorrow. In the scripture we read today, there is the picture of a poor man who pretended to be rich. Who is he deceiving? Today you will see some people borrowing to spray at a party. Some will arrive at a beer parlour and ask everybody to be served, while at home, there is no food, and children's school fees are yet to be paid.   UNFORGIVEN Genesis 4:1-11 Devotional:- “So the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen?” (v.6) NKJV It is ignorance for people to think unforgiven is a way of paying back people who offended them. Unforgiven is actually not against anyone but against oneself. It is always a trick of the enemy to steal our joy. Any time the enemy sees people happy, he always uses the trick of unforgiven to steal their joy. This is because he knows that joy will produce our strength (Nehemiah 8:10). But do you know that it is more blessed to give? Some only want to enjoy receiving, and they don’t enjoy giving. Some will even give water to you as if they are giving their blood.   PROGRESS Luke 10:17-24 Devotional:- “In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, "I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight” (v.21) NKJV A very strong factor of joy is good result. This is attaining a goal you have set ahead of yourself. Anyone who sets and achieves a goal naturally experiences a kind of joy, and this is why you must be an achiever too. The Bible talks about fullness of joy in God’s presence (Psalm 16:11). One of the factors responsible for good result is the fulfilment of God’s word. The word of God says there is a great joy in heaven over a sinner that repents (Luke 15:7).   LIBERTY Acts 16:16-30 Devotional:- “But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them” (v.25) NKJV One of the greatest results of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in a believer is that he is set free from the cages of life. When a man is in bondage of life, he cannot have full strength in him. But even when a man who has gained his liberty by the Spirit of God is bound in prison, the joy in him cannot be hindered (Acts 16:23-25). In the scripture we read today are the events of Paul and Silas, the apostles of Jesus, who were imprisoned for preaching the good news. But though they are in prison, the Holy Spirit has set their heart free, so physical prison cannot stop the joy of God in their life. And since their heart is set free by the Holy Spirit, the natural bondage cannot hold them (2 Corinthians 3:17). You as a believer, must be careful not to allow anything to bind you when Christ has set you free (Galatians 5:1)....

  GOOD RELATIONSHIP Genesis 24:60-67 Devotional:- “Then Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent; and he took Rebekah and she became his wife, and he loved her. So Isaac was comforted after his mother's death” (v.67) NKJV Relationship, as it were, can be both good and bad. It can be a factor for either sorrow or joy. When you find a good relationship, you will enjoy the beauty of it’s joy. A good relationship will bring increase and growth and will always come with joy.   SPEAKING JOY Genesis 21:1-7 Devotional:- “And Sarah said, "God has made me laugh, and all who hear will laugh with me."" (v.6) NKJV It is important that you know that your life is determined by your choice. It is what you say your life will be that it shall be. Men are simply victims of their own beliefs and words (Proverbs 6:2). That is why you and I need to be careful of what we declare about our lives, family and pursuit (Isaiah 43:26).
