PRIVILEGED VERSUS OBLIGATION Psalms 100:1-5
Devotional Verse-“Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing” (V. 2)
Serving the Lord demands that we don't think of our assignments as obligations but a privilege. An obligation is a sense of duty produced by a contract or agreement before a man can be paid. A privilege is a special opportunity or special advantage that is not common to all. Good servant sees their services to God as a privilege not an obligation.
That is why service to God demands service with gladness. Those who serve under obligation experiences stress but privileged people serve joyfully. The reason true servants will see themselves as privileged is because God’s promises and rewards for his servants are great. Jesus said “if we serve Him, God the father will honour us” (John 12:26). The word of God says, we shall be greatly rewarded (1 Corinthians 15:58). The Bible says, God shall heal us and set us free from miscarriages (Exodus 23:25).
Beside all of these promises, we serve the Lord because He is our owner and our master. We serve Him voluntarily with gladness because He is our maker and our God (Psalms 100:3). That is why we must not serve God like an obligation so that we don't serve the enemy (Deuteronomy 28:47-48). Don't let anyone push you before you serve faithfully. And your reward shall be abundant. Peace!
PRAYER: Lord, help me to always serve you with a true servant’s heart.
“ONLY SERVICE WITH A SERVANT’S HEART HAVE ETERNAL REWARD”
