SAVED TO SERVE GOD
2 Timothy 1:8-18
Devotional Verse:-“who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began”(V. 9)
The falling of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden made man to become servants of sin. A greater percentage of the population of man today is not serving the Lord. Man actually prefers the service of sin because it looks rewarding and brings satisfaction to the flesh. It seems to satisfy immediate desire of man, though with much destructive results and experiences (John 10:10). It is because of the falling of man into sin that makes man slaves to the devil (Romans 6:16). For this reason, God sent Jesus Christ to redeem man from the slavery of the devil (1 John 3:8).
The word of God says Jesus saved us and calls us with His own calling not according to our works, but according to His own purpose. Man is not saved to live as he likes. This is because everyone on earth is influenced daily by one spirit or the other (Job 32:18). It is the spirit that influences you that you'll serve his interest. People today serve the god of money or god of material wealth. Though, they think they are servants of God. But the bible says, man cannot serve two masters (Matthew 6:24).
The reason Christ saves us is that we might stop serving the devil but to serve the living God (Exodus 10:7).
Men today serve the devil by their attitude, relationship, through words, by conduct, even in their mode of dressing. Friend, please know that you are created to serve God, you are not living for your interest. Living without serving God is the reason all things look upside down today. Jesus came to save you from serving the devil so that you will not lack eternal reward. You need to know that our eternal value is determined by who we serve in this world. You are saved to stop serving the interest of devil or self but God. Serve the Lord that you might be your best. Peace!
PRAYER: Lord, give me the understanding to serve you alone
“WHO YOU SERVE DETERMINES YOUR END”
