That is, they get annoyed and refuse to relate to one another. Many of us have some people we don’t greet now on this account. Some people have taken offence at their parents and relations, and they refused to relate to them. The truth is that if you know the harm you are doing to yourself by so doing, you will give up on this.   In the scripture we read today, John the Baptist was not happy because Jesus did not come to rescue him from prison, and he took offence at Christ. He sent messengers to Jesus to ask if He was the Christ or not. This question see...

SELF-CONTROL

SELF-CONTROL

1 Corinthians 9:19-27
Devotional: “But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified” V 27

One of the strong fruits the Spirit every child of God should seek to bear is Self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). The word of God says, a life without the attitude of self-control is like a city without wall (Proverbs 25:28). This means, such person is exposed to all kind of danger. Gentleness and Self-control are virtues that always operate together. To be self-controlled is to learn to put self under check in any situation.

In our Scripture today, Apostle Paul show us the act of Self Control. This is by not allowing today’s achievements to hinder that of tomorrow. This is by putting the body under subjection and not allow the human nature to hinder our discipline attitude.

Self-control makes you put yourself in order before others start to correct you. Learn to put your mind in subjection to wisdom. Our human nature doesn’t always want to do what is right but we must train it to do the right thing in Christ Jesus. You must not let your human nature control you but train it to do the will of God. This is possible only by your choice to live a self-controlled live. Not letting your situation or nature drives you into sin but discipline it with meditation and choosing to obey the word of God. So, you will be a unique Christian all the days of your life. Peace

Prayer: Lord, give me the grace to always put my life under the control of the Holy Spirit
