WAITING ON THE LORD

WAITING ON THE LORD 2 Samuel 5:1-10 Devotional:- “David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years” (v.4) NKJV One of the good virtues of God we must always appreciate is His faithfulness. God is not a man that will lie; whatever He has said in His word, He is able to do and He shall do. You can always plug yourself into His promises as much as you work in His covenants. I always tell people never to think God’s word is written only to some specific persons we hear or read about in the Bible. The word of God is the standard practice and programme of God. They were only privileged to be the ones to receive the word at their time, but God is still the same, and so is His word. In claiming the word of God, you must learn to be able to patiently wait. People who will retain their joy must add this virtue to their life (Hebrews 6:12). Our scripture today told us of the installation of David as king, but that was a promise he received from God when he was about 1...

HEIRS OF GOD

HEIRS OF GOD

Galatians 4:1-7
Devotional:- “Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ” (V. 7) NKJV

A slave is different from a son. A son bears the name of his father and has access to the father and all that he has. But it is not so with the slave. You hardly see the son of a great man suffering except he is not a legal son or disobedient to his father. The truth is that you are not to suffer as a Son of God. It is not your portion to be sick, fail, or be sorrowful. It is so in the life of many children of God because, though they are heirs of God, they refuse to grow to be sons. This is not gender-based but maturity-based.

The scripture we read today says the heir is not different from a slave as long as he is a child (Galatians 4:3-4). Though he owns all things, he is under the control of others. At such a time, even the slave could determine and control his life. That is why many Christians today are not in control of many good things in life.

Friend, the scripture is the book of truth. The truth refers to you as the heir of God. But you have to grow to maturity and become a son from a child. That is when you will be bold to take your place in Christ. What makes you grow in Christ is your fellowship with God through His word. That is, daily taking the word of God as food (Luke 4:7). Your fellowship with God in prayers, your fellowship with the church (Hebrew 10:25), and your obedience to God’s instructions are important. Let your fellowship with God be with meditation.

If you remain a child in God, it is a trick of the enemy to deprive you of your heritage in Christ. Don’t be a distant child from God; you will be suffering like the world (Psalms 82:5-8). Stop behaving like a bastard. Grow up in Christ, and your heritage shall fall into your hands. Wake up!

PRAYER: LORD, HELP ME TO ALWAYS FELLOWSHIP MEDITATIVELY WITH YOU TO GROW UP.

“YOUR GROWTH IN THE LORD DETERMINES YOUR STRENGTH FOR EXPLOITS ON THE EARTH.”
