PRETENDING

PRETENDING Proverbs 13:1-10 Devotional:- “There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing; And one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches” (v.7) NKJV One other instrument of the devil to steal people’s joy is to fill their hearts with pretence. To pretend is to behave or talk like, or put yourself in a status, that you are not. It is to use what you don’t have to impress people who do not like you. It is to give people a false impression about you. This always results in a show of shame and sorrow. In the scripture we read today, there is the picture of a poor man who pretended to be rich. Who is he deceiving? Today you will see some people borrowing to spray at a party. Some will arrive at a beer parlour and ask everybody to be served, while at home, there is no food, and children's school fees are yet to be paid. Some are known to be very good outside to their secretaries, receptionists and the like, while at home they don’t have any credibility (Proverbs 12:9, Job 2...

GREATER THAN

GREATER THAN

I John 4:3-6
Devotional:-" ...and have overcome...because He who is in you is greater than He who is in the world." (V. 4)

It should be very clear what the terms of your victory are. In the spirit realm, there are just two forces and not more than that. They are the forces of the devil and the forces of God. These are the only oppositions that exist in the spiritual realm, and there is no other party. The issue of who is stronger does not call for debate, as all know the great and strong one. And that is the living God. God created even the devil himself but fell by the curse of God on him (Isaiah 14:12–15).

Are Any of these two forces that rule your life determines your victory. Since you have chosen Jesus to be your Lord and your Saviour, you have chosen the spirit of God. That is why darkness that is of the devil cannot overcome you since you are a light (John 1:5). You are therefore going to continue to be a victor because greater is He that is in you than He that lives in the world.

Friend, since you carry a greater God in you, stop looking at the power of the devil as though more powerful. It is the spirit in a man that determines his class. You are not in the class of the devil, so stop being afraid of him (Psalms 8:5–6). The greater one is inside you. And the Bible says, "If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:3 1). That statement is a question, and no one has ever responded to say, ‘I will’. They have not given birth to such one. See you are too much for the devil. Even when you are lying down, he is afraid to come close to you, and how much more when you stand. That is why you need to keep growing your spiritual muscles in the word. And you will always overcome.

Prayer: Lord, strengthen me by your word for my daily victory.

“SINCE YOU CARRY THE GREAT ONE IN YOU, YOU WILL ALWAYS WIN”
