JOYFUL COMPANION

JOYFUL COMPANION  Luke 1:37-45 Devotional:- “For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy” (v.44) NKJV We must know that sooner or later, we will always look like the people we are moving with. God’s word says, he that walks with the wise shall be wise and the companion of fools shall be destroyed (Proverbs 13:20). This means that what we gain from the surroundings of our associates has a very strong influence upon our life. If a man walks with people who don’t know or appreciate joy, he may not also experience joy. We read about the visitation of Mary to Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist. Since two of them carry unique children of divine significance, they both have the Spirit of God in them. This brings about a joyful effect. As soon as Elizabeth heard the voice of Mary, the baby leaped for joy. You therefore need to understand that the richest place you need to seek to be is where God’s children are gathe...

SENSE OF SELF

Who do you think you are? Why your sense of self is an illusion ...
Scripture Reading: Colossians 3:1-11

Devotional: “and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him”  (V. 10)

There is no self that will be able to stand before God. Self is our personality. Self is an attempt to denial God of the ownership of our life. He made us, He made the world and He gave us the strength we use to work,. The income we made is a product of His grace. We brought nothing and we own nothing. That is why every true child of God should see themselves as steward in this world and not owners of anything God gives to us (John 3:27; James 1:12)

To have the best of the presence of God, you must lose the sense of self (Psalms 24:1). You must see God as your owner because; He is (Psalms 100:3). You must see yourself as someone who has no right of his own but the one given to him by God. That way, you are presenting yourself humble and ready to do the will of God (Romans 12:1-2, Psalms 25:9-14).

Friend, you cannot go far with God if you want to rely on self. Self is a product of culture and tradition we have learnt all through our lifetime. “This is how people do things” and that look like the acceptable way but not before God. We can put off self by giving ourselves as a living sacrifice unto God (Romans 12:1). By unlearning the way of the world and by renewing our mindset in the word of God to learn how to do things the way God want it. It is then that our worship will be acceptable to God. Peace.

PRAYER: Lord, give me victory over the spirit of self
