The kingdom of God is for those who are poor in spirit (Matthew 5:3), that is, those who are simple enough to accept the simplicity of God without denying the power in it. Unless you take the kingdom as children, you may not be able to enjoy the best of it. This is because many have become so used to the name of Jesus that it has lost its power to them. The scripture described the name as a strong tower (Proverbs 18:10). When you run into it, you shall be saved. Therefore, you ...

BACK TO SCHOOL

Ecclesiastes 10:10-15
Devotional:- “If the ax is dull, And one does not sharpen the edge, Then he must use more strength; But wisdom brings success” (v.10) NKJV.

Do you know that there can be no effective flight if there is no good ground or a kind of background from which the flying object will take off? One of the components for a good foundation for taking off in life is education or skill development. Some people often think that education is just about obtaining a certificate that enables them to find employment. So they tell themselves, “I am not looking for work, so I don’t need education”. I am doing my business, so I don't need education. But is this true?

The scripture we read today says if an axe is dull and unsharpened, there will be a need to apply more strength before it can perform, but skill will bring success. Listen, the major purpose of education is to build your mind skillfully. It is like sharpening your axe or cutlass to work better for you. So, no matter what your business, trade or career is, if you are not going to remain on a spot, you need to go back to school. You could be informed by attending seminars, reading books, or going back to sit under lecturers in the school. The main among them is searching for and sitting with a relevant book till you gain a better understanding of what you are doing.

This will build your skills for effectiveness. Skill is the ability to do something with speed and accuracy. This will make you overtake your equals. Illiteracy is a disease. Education will open you to more opportunities. If the governor of your state needs a fashion designer, for example, only the educated will win the contract. Don’t remain a servant of your junior forever. You are not too old to be back in school to pursue that career, it could be the only thing you need to cross into your next level. Decide to progress and you will find grace.

PRAYER: LORD, HELP ME TO HUMBLE MYSELF TO LEARN.

“THE SKILLFUL WILL ALWAYS BE THE NEEDED AT THE TOP”
