STRENGTH IN GOD

Image
STRENGTH IN GOD 2 Corinthians 10:1-6 Devotional:- “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds” (V4) NKJV      Many Christians today have so much confusion about their strength in God. It has made the church think that a few limited people can demonstrate the strength of God. So, multitudes are weak in strength. Though they come to church, yet in times of challenges, you see them rushing to another Christian whom they know to be stronger in God. Neglecting the fact that a New Testament believer is a potential priest and king for Christ (Revelation 5:10; Mark 16:17).

SPEAK OUT

Image
SPEAK OUT Exodus 11:1-8 Devotional:- “Speak now in the hearing of the people, and let every man ask from his neighbor and every woman from her neighbor, articles of silver and articles of gold” (v.2) NKJV      Thousands of people have been trapped unnecessarily in life because they do not understand the need to open their mouths. They have not come to the light that God would do nothing for us until we open our mouths (Numbers 14:28). Many have missed a lot of help and favour that would have cheaply come their way because they close their mouths.

SLEEP ABUSE

Image
SLEEP ABUSE Proverbs 6:6-11 Devotional:- “How long will you slumber, O sluggard? When will you rise from your sleep?” (V.9) NKJV      Today, we talk so much about drug abuse because of its evil effects on the lives, making people live abnormal lives. It could affect the mind and make people lose control of their lives. But little do we often talk about other things we abuse in life that could also bring life and destiny to a total disarray. One of such is excessive sleeping.

SAY NO!

Image
SAY NO! Proverbs 1:7-20 Devotional:- “My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent” (v.10) NKJV      If God is going to have His way in your life this year, you must be willing to say no to many things in life. Most of the events in the world are more harmful to our lives than helpful. Most events look good but are a distraction to our destinies. So, it will take a mind that could identify and refuse them to be able to overcome them.

WRONG COUNSEL

Image
WRONG COUNSEL 1 Samuel 17:25-36 Devotional:- “And Saul said to David, "You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are a youth, and he a man of war from his youth" (v.33) NKJV        Everyone living on the earth carries great and mighty potential that could change the world and make their world great. Every great invention we can see in the world today, ranging from electronics, to computers to automobiles, and many more, are all products of the great potential God deposited in man. Do you know that you are also greatly endowed?

FEAR NO DEATH

Image
FEAR NO DEATH Acts 21:1-14 Devotional:- “Then Paul answered, "What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus”” (v. 13) NKJV       No one can live effectively except they first give up on the fear of death. Since some people have seen death as the end of existence, it often poses a great threat to their lives. Today, death is a fearful thing to mention to so many people. They sleep and wake up with the fear of death. They do everything with the consciousness of death. They even travel as though they will not come back. The hard truth is that such men will eventually die.

WRONG FOUNDATION

Image
WRONG FOUNDATION Psalms 11:1-7 Devotional:- “If the foundations are destroyed, What can the righteous do?” (v.3) NKJV       It is of great importance that people consider the foundation of their lives to be one of the most vital things. Most people do not know that the foundation they lay for anything they do in this world is what determines the future of that venture. Very many people, especially the young people of this generation, just think that when one starts doing something, the way they start does not matter. He can always make up later. But this is never so.

REACTIONS

Image
REACTIONS 2 Samuel 16:5-14 Devotional:- “Also Shimei said thus when he cursed: "Come out! Come out! You bloodthirsty man, you rogue!” (V.7) NKJV      One of the attitudes that proves a man’s maturity is the ability to handle reactions. When the Bible tells us to be careful of sin that may add weight on our lives, reaction is one of such (Hebrews 12:1). It can stop your race to glory.

PRODUCT OF SIN

Image
PRODUCT OF SIN James 1:9-18 Devotional:- “Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.” (V. 15) NKJV     Believers should be careful not to fill their minds with the mentality of sin. There are some facts we need to know about this so that we are not ignorant of the devices of the devil. Then the devil will not find it easy to outwit us in Jesus' name (2 Corinthians 2:11). What pushes most great men into the traps of sin are what could easily be avoided, but they became victims of it through their ignorance.

NO SHOW

Image
NO SHOW 2 Kings 20:12-21  Devotional:- “And Hezekiah was attentive to them, and showed them all the house of his treasures-the silver and gold, the spices and precious ointment, and all his armoury-all that was found among his treasures. There was nothing in his house or in all his dominion that Hezekiah did not show them” (v. 13) NKJV.       A great problem in the lives of many people is the spirit of show-off. The fundamental reason why they do everything is that people may see their glory and beauty, so any little opportunity they have, they will use to display that all men may see. If you see how some sit in their car and cross their legs on the dashboard.

PRIDE

Image
PRIDE Luke 18:9-14 Devotional:- “I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted” (v.14) NKJV.       Many people do not understand that when God is absent from whatever we do, we make success far from ourselves. When a man is prospering in a godly way, it is just because God is backing him. One of the things that can push God out of the life of anyone is pride. The only kind of people that God will always release grace for increase to are the humble (James 4:6).

MONEY TRAP

Image
MONEY TRAP 1 Timothy 6:17-21 Devotional:-“Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.” (V.17) NKJV      The lives of many people would have been colourful today if not for The trap of money. Many people can no longer enjoy their lives simply because they have little money. Their wealth has created restlessness and sleeplessness for them. The so-called riches have created so much fear in their lives that they wish they didn’t have it, but they can’t do without it. Some fellows have suddenly grown to be semi-devils because of the little blessing God gave them. Everyone who works under them is in danger of being cursed or shouted at daily.

PLEASURE

Image
PLEASURE Proverbs 21:13-20  Devotional:- “He who loves pleasure will be a poor man; He who loves wine and oil will not be rich” (v.17) NKJV      It is of great importance that we consider something that may make it difficult for us to manage our nest level, one of such is pleasure. Pleasure mentality has become a big weight on the neck of some people’s destiny. Pleasure mentality is doing things only for the fun of it. Doing things only to get the enjoyment out of it, and not having the purpose in mind.

EXCUSES

Image
EXCUSES Exodus 4:6-17  Devotional:- “Then Moses said to the LORD, "O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue” (v. 10) NKJV      Many do not know that excusing oneself from God’s instruction is a grievous sin unto the Lord. We often like to give excuses when we are asked to do something we never desire to do. Others give excuses when they have no hope or any view of expectation in what they are called to do. Such people only do what is easy and only with immediate returns. They often don’t want to go the extra mile to do extraordinary things. Most people only want to do what they believe will bring immediate results.

SELF PERCEPTION

Image
SELF PERCEPTION Numbers 13:26-33 Devotional:- “There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight” (v.33) NKJV      No one will be able to fly when he has a wrong perception of him/themself. Wrong self-perception is to look down on your personality. To disqualify yourself from the race set ahead of you. To look at yourself as being weak. This could become a weight on you and hinder you from being able to fly in life.

NARROW DOWN

Image
NARROW DOWN Galatians 2:1-10 Devotional:- “For God, who was at work in the ministry of Peter as an apostle to the Jews, was also at work in my ministry as an apostle to the gentiles” (V. 8) NIV.       So many lives today are facing challenges that are not meant for them because they are carrying more than they should be carrying in life. This happens because men are in search of money and material things. Some have become the jack of all trades because they want to be famous, but they may never get it. So many people are doing lots but lack the knowledge for it. They do not know that our calling and gifts are global, but specific and simple.

BACK TO SCHOOL

Image
BACK TO SCHOOL Ecclesiastes 10:10-15 Devotional:- “If the ax is dull, And one does not sharpen the edge, Then he must use more strength; But wisdom brings success” (v.10) NKJV.      Do you know that there can be no effective flight if there is no good ground or a kind of background from which the flying object will take off? One of the components for a good foundation for taking off in life is education or skill development. Some people often think that education is just about obtaining a certificate that enables them to find employment. So they tell themselves, “I am not looking for work, so I don’t need education”. I am doing my business, so I don't need education. But is this true?

NEVER COVER UP

Image
NEVER COVER UP 2 Samuel 11:14-26 Devotional:- “And he wrote in the letter, saying, "Set Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retreat from him, that he may be struck down and die'” (v.15) NKJV.      When men sin, the next thing that often comes to the minds of men is how to cover up. This is the way some people live their lives. They often think in their mind that everyone is doing it, and it is only because they cover up that they are not caught. But we all need to know that God is a merciful God. When a man covers his sin, the guilty conscience will not let him have peace.

BE RESPONSIBLE

Image
BE RESPONSIBLE 1 Samuel 17:12-22  Devotional:- “So David rose early in the morning, left the sheep with a keeper, and took the things and went as Jesse had commanded him. And he came to the camp as the army was going out to the fight and shouting for the battle” (v. 20) NKJV.       If God will give lifting to any man, He will look into the level of his responsible attitude. When God was looking down from heaven, to search for a king in place of Saul the king, He found David. Responsibility is one of the things He must have seen in him (1 Samuel 16:1).

LOYALTY

Image
LOYALTY 2 Samuel 11:6-13 Devotional:- “And Uriah said to David, "The ark and Israel and Judah are dwelling in tents, and my lord Joab and the servants of my lord are encamped in the open fields. Shall I then go to my house to eat and drink, and to lie with my wife? As you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do this thing.” (V.11) NKJV      Most people do not know that if they are not loyal to their leader, People will not be loyal to them.  For whatever a man sows, he shall reap. We are living in a generation that carries corrupt seed for a terrible future (Galatians 6:7). You must not join them if you are going to fly high in life.

SERVING THE LORD

Image
SERVING THE LORD Ephesians 6:1-9  Devotional:- “with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men” (v.7) NKJV      One of the mysteries you will need to climb up is service. This is using your strength to strengthen others. It is lifting the weak. It is helping someone to become. It is equipping others to be great. Many people have not discovered that the way to be great in God is to become humble (James 4:10, 1 Peter 5:6). A strong proof of humility is the willingness to serve. Jesus said, Whoever wants to be great should be willing to be a servant (Mark 10:42-45).

GOOD RELATIONSHIP

Image
GOOD RELATIONSHIP Genesis 40:4-15 Devotional:- “So he asked Pharaoh’s official who were in custody with him in his master’s house,“ Why are your faces so sad today”? (V. 7) NIV      There is a need for everyone to understand the beauty of relationships. Many people fail in this area of their lives. It is the reason for the delay of many people's favour and help. It has caused many sisters and brothers to have a delay in locating their spouses. It has sent many homes packing. Lack of a good attitude in relationships has scattered many friends and groups. The earlier we begin to cherish relationships, the better for us. It is one of the things we need most in our lives.

WAIT ON THE LORD

Image
WAIT ON THE LORD Isaiah 40:25-31  Devotional:- “But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint” (v.31) NKJV.      One of the strengths for soaring yet to be discovered by most children of God is waiting on the Lord. Until we learn to wait on the Lord, we may not receive the wings that is capable of flying us to our next level. Many Christians prefer to run to their pastor whenever they are faced with diverse challenges rather than waiting on the Lord. It is good to turn to the Pastor, but better to turn to the Lord.

COUNT IT ALL JOY

Image
COUNT IT ALL JOY James 1:1-8 Devotional:- “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials” (v.2) NKJV            Trial could be a weight that the enemy could use to hinder many Christians from flying in life. Trial times are periods when we are tested to know the strength of our hearts. This season comes into the life of a Christian not because the Lord wants to be wicked to us, but we often enter into this season due to our weaknesses (James 1:13-14). When God discovers our weaknesses, He, as a good father, sees the need to help us; He does this by allowing situations that expose our weaknesses to us. It is always a time that looks as though God has forsaken or rejected us. These are what many people call delays in their lives. But all of these are not to break but to build us.

EXERCISING SPIRITUAL MUSCLE

Image
EXERCISING SPIRITUAL MUSCLE   1 Timothy 4:1-11  Devotional:- “For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come” (v.8) NKJV.      Children of God should come to the awareness of the importance of spiritual exercise. A likelihood of this can be learnt from physical exercise. Someone who is exercising physically will keep fit by becoming strong and fresh. This will make such a person strong and adaptable. It will make the nerves free and be easy route for blood and water to flow around the system for healthy living. Such a body will be strong enough to carry out any given task and find it easy to resist diseases since there is no place for anything dirty to hide in the system.

AVOIDING PITFALL

Image
AVOIDING PITFALL  2 Samuel 11:1-11  Devotional:- “Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king's house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold” (V. 2) NKJV.      Today, many lives that should have been glorious have been messed up by the devil, putting them into inward weakness that made them fall away from the grace of God. This has become a great weight for many lives today and stopping them from flying. As much as David was gloriously loved by the Lord. What he did, as we read in the scripture today, brought great trouble to his life. The trouble brought God’s wrought of sword and death to his family (2 Samuel 12:9-14). If we are going to soar, we must avoid this kind of pitfall in life.

REMOVE THE WEIGHT

Image
REMOVE THE WEIGHT Hebrews 12:1-17  Devotional:- “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us” (v.1) NKJV.      God in His wonderful power has created everything with the nature to fit into their natural place wonderfully. When you observe the birds that fly in the air. They are always very light. I have watched a documentary about eagles. As big as they are, they could be so light in weight. Their weight is one of the advantages of their ability to fly high in the firmament. This same property has been employed in the making of the aircraft we are using today. This is also true for anyone who aspires to achieve great heights in life. We must be willing to shed some weight.

PLANNING

Image
PLANNING Proverbs 16:1-9 Devotional:- “The plans of the mind and orderly thinking belong to man, but from the Lord comes the [wise] answer of the tongue” (v. 1)  AMPC      One of the strategies for growth and achievement that most people are not used to is planning. Planning will make your way plain and straight. It makes life predictable. It makes you locate your place; it makes you see obstacles and helps get you prepare to overcome them. It helps you move on in the journey of life without struggle. It helps you to be able to evaluate and recognize your level of progress. And so it encourages you to think of a better way for growth.

SPIRIT OF SPORT

Image
SPIRIT OF SPORT 1 Corinthians 9:19-27 “Devotional:- Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.” (v.24) NKJV      We need to come to the awareness that life is a race. Therefore, if a person does not carry a sportsman's spirit, they may never win in the race of life. This is why God’s word encourages us to run so that we may obtain the precious prize of glory.

A GOOD SOWER

Image
A GOOD SOWER Galatians 6:1-10  Devotional:- “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap” (v.7) NKJV.      God is a God of principle. Do you know that He governs this world by His principles? So, principles rule the world. Do you know that in most cases, God will not act against His principles? One of the principles of life is sowing and reaping. This will go a long way to determine your future, by what you are sowing today.

PREPARATION

Image
PREPARATION 2 Chronicles 27:1-6  Devotional:- “So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the LORD his God” (v.6) NKJV.           A race not prepared for might not be that successful in the end. Everyone who runs and wins in the race of life knows that there is nothing to replace preparation. It is only those who will take the time to prepare that will find sufficient strength to finish their race. Preparation is to get yourself ready for the race set ahead of you. It is building in your system what it takes to have the victory and success you desire; it is exercising your system in readiness for a task. It is training your system to be used to the demands of your race.

PROPHETIC FULFILMENT

Image
PROPHETIC FULFILMENT 2 Chronicles 20:15-25 DEVOTIONAL:- “So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the LORD your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper” (V.20) NKJV.      God’s word is potent, especially when brought to life through the mouth of His servants. All that the Lord will do is already stated in His covenant book, the Bible. And when their season of expression comes, He stirs his servant's heart to prophesy His word to His people. It will therefore take our response to receive the result of the word spoken.
