A FRIEND

A FRIEND John 15:9-17  Devotional:- “...but l have called you friends…” (V. 15) In this generation, it is not a common thing to find true friends. This is someone who goes all out to see to your well-being. Someone who wants to identify with you in all situations. Someone who is not feeling fine until he sees you, someone who daily remembers to pray and intercede for you. It can be a terrible thing sometimes when you desire to share your mind with someone, and no one is willing to listen to you, or someone who could offer a little help. Sometimes we could be in need of a little encouragement, but no one to really do it. The people who are supposed to encourage us are the ones who misunderstand us and condemn us. We need to come to the understanding that God is our friend. He is not just your Lord and God. He always wants to listen to you. He is not happy when you are not (Hebrews 4:15). SELF DENIAL

SELF DENIAL

Scripture: Matthew 16:24-28

Devotional:- "Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me" (v.24) NKJV

An important factor in the process of becoming like Jesus is that you must deny yourself to be able to follow Him. Self is the major hindrance to our work with God. By self, I mean the flesh, this is the human nature in us. This human nature has been cultured into sinful and selfish life. The flesh does not want to please God (Romans 8:5-8). So those who are ruled by the desires of their flesh cannot please God.

If anyone want to be a disciple of Jesus, he/she must deny the flesh to satisfy God. Our body is made to help us relate with the physical world, but we must put it under control so that it does not send us to hell.

Every attempt you made to please God, your human nature will not support it. So you deny it by not allowing it but yielding to the Holy Spirit and the word of God. It is then you can begin to grow into the likeness of Christ. Your ability to say No to the flesh and Yes to God is a good step towards maturity. Then His beauty shall be seen on you. Peace

Prayer - Lord, give me the enablement to yield to you always.

Every man is either yielding to God or flesh
