In many cases we query the faithfulness of God, simply because we often expect God to act in one way which he may not. The truth is that anytime there seem to be a failure, you cannot blame God. Many of us do not even know that it is a sin to blame God. Why? God cannot commit error. So the fault should have been at our side. 

In the event we read about today, I could see a major cause of the problem and that was wrong motive. The giving of the family must have been to do what everyone was doing. That is why it was easy for them to lie. But the original intention could have been to also let everyone knew that they were also givers. I want us to learn a big lesson and that is to avoid show off motive in whatever we are doing. It is a product of pride and could make God withdraw from us and eventually result to shame (James 4:7). Knowing that what they gave was not up to the price of a house, because they’ve removed part of it, yet they planned a lie together, so that their name could enter the house giver’s list. 

Friend, as glorious and rewarding giving could be, as unfruitful as it could become when it is not done with good motive. See, whatever has to do with show is not wise. I often think that the money people used in blocking roads and feeding multitude is because they have a burden. But I later understand that it may as well be spent to create undue attention. May the Lord grant us understanding. Always keep your motive right no matter what the case may be. Don’t do something because you want people to know that you are there. Take wisdom and no one shall be able to stop you in life. 

Prayer: Lord, help me to always give in right motive.

The Bible did not advise us to do business but it commanded us. That is why it would be wrong for you and me to be without a business. That makes idleness a crime against self (1 Thessalonians 4:11). Business is whatever you are doing to earn income. God will not accommodate idleness with anyone because He invested heavily in us.

  DOMINION   Psalms 8:1-9 Devotional:- “You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet” (V. 6) NKJV      At creation, man was given dominion over all that God created. This office was at that time a terrifying one for other creatures and even the devil. (Psalms 8.6; Psalms 110:1-3). It was this office that the devil was after that he had to deceive man and steal. You will observe that man was the last creature of God (Genesis 1:26). Yet he was made to have dominion over all that existed before him. The devil saw this as partiality on the side of God. He did not know that though man was the last creation yet the finest. The man was finally created to be in charge of all creation.
