THE PAST

THE PAST Isaiah 43:8-21 Devotional:- “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old.” (v.18) NKJV God, who gives us a memory, want us to use our past experiences to help us make quality decisions in the future, but the past is always the enemy of the future for many. If you don’t know how to manage your memory system of the past, it is capable of standing against your success in the future. As emotional beings, we are sometimes faced with the challenges of memories of our past experiences, our errors and failures. You will observe that at every point of decision-making to progress, the enemy will bring back to your memory the past experiences of your failure. This is just to bring fear to your heart and make you doubt the possibility of your success, so you could lose your joy. The scripture we read today instructs us to let go of the past. SORROW

SORROW

Nehemiah 8:4-12
Devotional:- “Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” (v. 10) NKJV

It is the target of the enemy, using every avenue to make a strong man weak. One of the weapons of the enemy to make a man weak is sorrow. This is not just a psychological feeling, it’s an affliction released or unleashed upon the life of a man from the pit of hell. No matter how strong a man is, when he allows sorrow, he is coming down. God’s word says; sorrow rotten bones (Proverbs 17:22).

Nehemiah knows that the people were able to build because they were enjoying the strength of joy. The way the enemy can weaken them is by causing sorrow. So, when the people started weeping, he quickly cautioned them and reminded them that it is joy that produces their strength. The reason they were sorrowful was because they remembered the past; to them, it was necessary to be sorrowful. But they were simply ignorant.

Friend, there is not enough good reason to be sorrowful. It will do more harm to you than good. God’s word says; sorrow breaks the heart (Proverbs 15:13), and you need to know that a broken heart is not easily mended. There is so much glory waiting for you in the future if Jesus tarries. You can’t afford to miss your glory. Say no to sorrow. Peace!

Prayer: Lord, deliver me from the spirit of sorrow.

“SORROW IS ALIEN TO YOUR SYSTEM; REJECT IT.
