GROWING

  GROWING Ephesians 4:9-16 Devotional:- “But, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head of Christ” (V. 15) God’s plan and desire is that we grow up. So many Christian today are growing older but not growing up. Many are stocked in perpetual spiritual infancy. This is because they never intend to grow. Spiritual growth is not automatic, it takes intentional commitment. You must want to grow, decide to grow, make an effort and persist in growing. Discipleship is the process of becoming like Christ (Matthew 10:25). In your spiritual growth, God has a part and you have a part. To be Christ-like you will need to make Christ like choices and depend on the Holy Spirit to help you fulfill those choices. The moment you are ready, you will need to let go of some old routines and develop some new habits. You will need to intentionally change the way you are thinking (Philippians 2:12-13). GREATER THAN I John 4:3-6 Devotional:-" ...and have overcome...because He who is in you is greater than He who is in the world." (V. 4)      It should be very clear what the terms of your victory are. In the spirit realm, there are just two forces and not more than that. They are the forces of the devil and the forces of God. These are the only oppositions that exist in the spiritual realm, and there is no other party. The issue of who is stronger does not call for debate, as all know the great and strong one. And that is the living God. God created even the devil himself but fell by the curse of God on him (Isaiah 14:12–15).

This is because he carries the genes of the father in him. Do you know that the children of the king are given the same honour just as their father? This is because men know that the children are part of their father. In the old times, a king ruled as the head of states. He puts his children to be rulers over the constituents.

A PRIEST I Peter 2:4-8 Devotional:- “You also… have been built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices." (v.5)      In the Old Testament, the priests are the only people permitted by God to take up sacred affairs in the house of God. They are the ones approved by God to move closer to God and to touch the holy materials. It is an abomination for them to touch any unholy material. They are never to defile themselves with any unlawful thing. They stand on behalf of people before God and of God before people. They are permitted to have direct access to God.

A LIGHT Matthew 5:14-16 Devotional:- “You are the light of the world." (v.14 )      Today many children of God have become victims of ignorance, and as a result, they have no eagle feather that makes it possible for them to fly to high places in life. Just like a lower eagle, they have started and chosen to continue their life among the chickens. Such an eagle has lost its place of glory. A normal eagle lives on the mountaintop. One of the reasons why God has made you partaker of this devotional is to clean you up with the word of God (John 15:3) and to give you a new feather to fly by the word of faith.

HEAVEN CITIZEN Philippians 3:17-21 Devotional:- “For our citizenship is in heaven." (v.20)      Almost everyone on earth is aware that one day each man will leave for a final destination. God, the beginning and the end of all things, have decided the end of every man (Revelation 1:8). There are just two destinations or a final place for every man. It is either heaven or hell. Each man must end in one of them. Since God has created man as a creature of choice, He has well created two places and leaves each man to his choice. Heaven is a place of eternal pleasure with God, while hell is a place of eternal torment with the devil.

A FRIEND John 15:13-17 Devotional:- “...but have call you friends, for all things that I heard of my father have made known to you” (V. 15)      Many times, we are deceived by what we are passing through or the news we hear daily to think God does not love us. But these are tricks of the devil to put the minds of our glorious right in Christ Jesus. The major reason for people suffering in the body of Christ is the enemy using the weapon of ignorance. Even when the truth of the word of God is told to some people they don’t believe. This is because they have been programmed to believe the lies of the enemy (John 8:44).

A BELOVED Romans 9:23-26 Devotional:- I will call them my people, which were not my possible, and her beloved, which was not beloved” (V. 25) KJV      A part from the biblical use of the word beloved, which allows us to use it among believers, do you know that the greatest title any man or woman can earn in life is to be called beloved? This is someone you can probably refer to as your spouse. Your mother or your father cannot earn such a title. None of your sisters or brothers can fit in. None of your friends can as well fit in. This level of title is reserved for someone you are to him or her special. Someone you give unreserved love to. This is someone who has become very important and a treasure to you. As for this level of relationship, you are ready to invest anything. It is referred to as an intimate relationship.

A CHOSEN PEOPLE Deuteronomy 7:4-11 Devotional:- “…the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth…” (V.6)      The basic challenge we are facing that does not make us understand our new position in Christ is that of misunderstanding how we become a child of God. Because we do not understand what it takes, many don’t even value it. So they easily throw it off their mind. Many today are not holding on to their faith and are easily discouraged simply because they lack understanding of the richness of their choice. Some also put up some pride and some show up because they think they were qualified.

APPLE OF HIS EYE Zechariah 2:4-13 Devotional:- “...for he who touches you touches the apple or pupil of His eye” (V. 8) AMPL      One of the most honourable and highly protected parts of our body is our eye. It is highly protected because of its importance and delicacy. The eye is the light of the body (Matthew 6:22, Luke 11:34). A man without sight is blocked without light. He will need to learn to see with the inner eye. Because of the importance of the eye, everyone takes time to wash it with all care and caution. When things are coming against it, wise people will always avoid it. When something little enters the eye, we become restless until it is removed. The truth is that you cannot allow anyone to touch your eye. It is a reflex action for you to close it at such times.

NEW CREATION

NEW CREATION 2 Corinthians 5:14-21 Devotional:- “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (V. 17) NKJV      When a man gives his life to Christ, he becomes a brand-new creature. Man needs to understand that he is not flesh, but a spirit that has a soul and dwells in flesh (body). At creation, God breathed His spirit into the clay, and man became a living soul (Genesis 2:7). So, death is referred to as a penalty of sin in Genesis 2:17. It is also known as separation from God. So, the Spirit of God departed when man sinned. But since man cannot be a vacuum, the spirit of the devil will always take over, and that is why man doesn’t drop dead immediately he turns to sin.

HEIRS OF GOD

HEIRS OF GOD Galatians 4:1-7 Devotional:- “Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ” (V. 7) NKJV      A slave is different from a son. A son bears the name of his father and has access to the father and all that he has. But it is not so with the slave. You hardly see the son of a great man suffering except he is not a legal son or disobedient to his father. The truth is that you are not to suffer as a Son of God. It is not your portion to be sick, fail, or be sorrowful. It is so in the life of many children of God because, though they are heirs of God, they refuse to grow to be sons. This is not gender-based but maturity-based.

CHILDREN OF GOD John 1:11-18 Devotional:- “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name ” (V. 2) NKJV      Those who are born to great people on earth are always considered privileged. Many of us would have loved to belong to a particular family or the other if we had been given the privilege to make that choice. Many challenges in the lives of some people today are there because they wake up to find themselves in a family with one deficiency or the other. This has brought many limitations to the lives of many people in the world today.

LORD OF HOST Psalms 24:1-10 Devotional:- “Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah” (V. 10) NKJV      You need to know that your saviour is the Lord of hosts. People who are from military backgrounds or families know that when your father is a general, you are like a star in the sky. So many other people will want to envy you. Such will have access to many amenities others may not be opportune to use. They will live in special quarters in the army base. And even at war, generals are more protected. If a general’s child is abused anywhere, the father will only command a few soldiers to go and discipline the individual(s) responsible.

KINGS OF KINGS Revelation 19:11-16 Devotional:- “And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” (V. 16) NKJV      In every land and nation, the king rules and reigns over the people. We all know that kings are heads of our society. They are the ones who govern. They are the ones who exercise authority over the land. They are the ones who control the affairs of their domain. They exercise great authority and dominion. Their words are words of authority and power (Ecclesiastes 8:4).

ALPHA AND OMEGA   Revelation 1:4-8 Devotional:- “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End," says the Lord, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty” (v.8)  NKJV      When we look into our lives, sometimes with several events happening and several things happening to people, the whole world can seem mysterious and confusing. But we know that God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33), so your life should not be lived in such a terrible condition. This should be our understanding of life.

The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep ” (V. 11) NKJV      Very many people do not know that there are just two camps for all humanity. This is the camp of God and the devil: the camp of light and darkness, the camp of good and evil. No man is on the fence. And there are no middle ways. Those of us who are in the camp of God already must understand that Jesus is our shepherd. He is a good shepherd. If anyone is not with the good shepherd yet, he is with robbers and wicked shepherds (John 10:8).

DELIVERER Romans 11:25-36 Devotional:- “And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: "The Deliverer will come out of Zion, And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob” (V. 26) NKJV      So many people have been deceived into covenant—bondage with the devil. This is because most people get too worried about their needs. And so the devil often takes advantage of this to rope them into eternal bondage. Though they will have their needs temporarily met, yet will have unavoidable troubles and sorrows (Proverbs 10:22). And so, the situation of some people today has become unexplainable.

Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals” (V.5) NKJV      Confidence in life is achieved only when a man is restful in his mind. No man can attain a good state of rest until he has ascertained his factors of confidence. The reason why men fail is because they unreasonable trust in a factor that is not tested. I have seen people fall as a result of trying to sit on a chair without ascertaining its condition. Some fellows pick other people’s cars without ascertaining the state of their efficiency. That could be very dangerous.

PRINCE OF PEACE Isaiah 9:5-7 Devotional:- “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace" (V.6) NKJV    Today, the scarcest commodity is peace. The world's organizations are paying a lot for peace but are not finding it easy to secure. Instead of attaining peace, the world is rather in pieces. In many homes and families today, the devil has stolen peace. So many relationships suffer loss under this condition. Some tribes and religions specialize in destroying the peace of society. This is simply because the spirit that controls them kills and destroys them.

Lordship is not a title for anyone. Today the Dominion of Christ is not rooted in the life of some believers because they do not know Jesus as their Lord.

HIGHLY CREATIVE Genesis 31:5-12 Devotional:- “And He said, 'Lift your eyes now and see, all the rams which leap on the flocks are streaked, speckled, and gray-spotted; for I have seen all that Laban is doing to you” (V.12) NKJV      When Adam was created, he was highly creative, just like God. He enjoys great illuminating ideas. At creation, God blessed man and said that man should subdue the earth (Genesis 1:28). This means to utilize the resources at their disposal to fill the earth with other better things. God wanted man to use all the resources on earth for something more relevant and useful for himself. He knows this will not be possible without first giving man His Spirit and a creative mind. So, God made us to be part of creation.

FRUITFULNESS Psalms 128:1-6 Devotional:- Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine In the very heart of your house, Your children like olive plants All around your table” (V.3) NKJV      One of the blessings God pronounced on man at creation is fruitfulness. And today people are beginning to think that fruitlessness is a defect in the creation of man. So, most people are beginning to count it as natural to be fruitless. But we need to ask ourselves if there were defects in God's creation. Why should it be that it is only in human we often find such defects? How many goats or dogs have you found barren? Are we saying the same word of God spoken that brought the creation of all things has failed on the side of humans?  If you accept it as your lifestyle, it is your choice.

  DOMINION   Psalms 8:1-9 Devotional:- “You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet” (V. 6) NKJV      At creation, man was given dominion over all that God created. This office was at that time a terrifying one for other creatures and even the devil. (Psalms 8.6; Psalms 110:1-3). It was this office that the devil was after that he had to deceive man and steal. You will observe that man was the last creature of God (Genesis 1:26). Yet he was made to have dominion over all that existed before him. The devil saw this as partiality on the side of God. He did not know that though man was the last creation yet the finest. The man was finally created to be in charge of all creation.

ENLARGEMENT  Isaiah 54:1-4 Devotional:- “For you shall expand to the right and to the left, And your descendants will inherit the nations, And make the desolate cities inhabited” (V. 3) NKJV      God created every man with the grace of enlargement and pronounced this blessing on man from the beginning. Man is raised to expand and fill all the earth. If whatever you are doing is not getting enlarged, I must let you know that this is not ordained for you as a New Testament believer. One of the reasons why God scattered the people who were building the tower of Babel was because they did not want to be enlarged.

LIKENESS OF GOD Psalms 82:1-8 Devotional:- “I said, "You are gods, And all of you are children of the Most High” (V.6) NKJV      Each human must wake up to know that they are not ordinary beings. God’s word says that man is created in the likeness of God (Genesis 1:26). When a man feels he is nobody, he will think like nobody and become nobody at last (Proverbs 23:7). This is always the target of the enemy. Please understand that you are created to be somebody great in life and that you shall be.

BLESSED TO MULTIPLY Genesis 30:25-36 Devotional:- “For what you had before I came was little, and it has increased to a great amount; the LORD has blessed you since my coming. And now, when shall I also provide for my own house?" (V.30) NKJV      One of the blessing God on humans at creation was the blessing of multiplication (Genesis 1:28). This is the ability to turn one to two and two to four. With the grace to multiply, man can always enjoy God’s abundance of all good things and he will be able to enlarge and do greater things. It is not the will or plan of God for anyone to reduce or decline. It is in our nature to multiply. This understanding should affect your life, business, finances, family, and ministry.

IMAGE OF GOD                 Genesis 1:26-31 Devotional:- “Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth” (V. 26) NKJV      At creation, God the Creator made us in His image. The greatest challenge for humanity is the loss of identity. When a man does not know who he is, he will be a cheap prey of the enemy. Lack of identity is the reason for most of all human failure. Even Eve fell into the deceptive trap of the devil because she was confused about her identity. This is the cheapest means to steal and destroy human destiny. He is still using it against men to date. The truth is that it is the most successful weapon of the enemy against man.

MASTER’S MINAS Luke 19:11-27 Devotional:- “So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas, and said to them, 'Do business till I come” (V. 13) NKJV      The word of God instructs us to do business. The Bible did not advise us to do business but it commanded us. That is why it would be wrong for you and me to be without a business. That makes idleness a crime against self (1 Thessalonians 4:11). Business is whatever you are doing to earn income. God will not accommodate idleness with anyone because He invested heavily in us.

COURAGE Joshua 1:1-9 Devotional:- “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go” (V. 9) NKJV      A major reason why many people are weak is because their level of courage is so low, that it cannot sustain them through to success. So they easily give up when faced with challenges. There is need for us to understand that there is no action that will not attract a reaction. So the only answer is courage.
