PROTECT YOUR HEART

Image
PROTECT YOUR HEART  Proverbs 4:20-27 Devotional:- “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life” (V. 23) NLT      Everyone is born with a strength capable of rising to greatness. In every growing child is a seed of greatness. It is this strength that makes the youth so creative and energetic. That is why each young person looks at the future with great hope. The enemy tries to destroy this strength. As strong as many started in life, not many could strike the chord of success because their strength was destroyed.

STORM

Image
STORM Matthew 8:23-27 Devotional:- “But He said to them, "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.” (V. 26) NKJV      Sometimes in the life of people, stormy situations could arise. This is often a period of total confusion. A period that the enemy wants to take advantage of. For one reason or the other, there could just be one form of problem or another all around. And it looks as if life is at the endpoint of life. It is a time when it looks as if it is finished for you. At such a time people may desert you and it may look as if you are the only one facing challenges on earth. In such a period many people ask: “God where is your face?” And we ask if He is still alive. Little do we realize that when a situation begins to turn so bad, it is just about to turn good. I don’t know what the situation is like with you, your work, family, finances, or academics. This happens to people when they...

JILTED LOVE

Image
JILTED LOVE II Samuel 13:7-18 Devotional:- “Then Amnon hated her exceedingly, so that the hatred with which he hated her was greater than the love with which he had loved her. And Amnon said to her, "Arise, be gone!” (V. 15) NKJV      Today many people in the world have become victims of love that has been turned to hatred. The best of friends sometimes can become the worst enemies. Some marriages that started full of love have turned bitter. Many couples have rendered their marriage vows null and void. Some spouses have allowed the third party to destroy their relationship. And someone is always a victim of such evil.

NEGLECT

Image
NEGLECT John 5:1-9 Devotional:- “The sick man answered Him, "Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me" (V. 7) NKJV      Many people today are faced with the problem of being neglected due to one situation the other. Sometimes people observe a particular problem facing a person and tend to neglect them. When they observe that such a life is hopeless, they neglect him. When people have something to gain around you, they multiply in friendship. But when they observe it had finished, they neglect you; forgetting that a friend in need is a friend indeed. The man we read about today might have been a big man before. Married with children, but suddenly he became sick. The family cared for him to the point at which they were fed up and he ended up being neglected. People might have thought there is nothing good that can come out of your life. Friends might have been avoiding you, relations m...

RISING FROM DEFEAT

Image
RISING FROM DEFEA T Joshua 7:2-12 Devotional:- “So the LORD said to Joshua: "Get up! Why do you lie thus on your face?” (V. 10) NKJV      When a man is defeated, the enemy often wants him to see it as the end of life. He will make him see how he has put in so much and has resulted in failure; he will make him see most things as ‘impossible in life, and bring discouragement to his heart. It is not in the devil’s interest that you rise again. He often wants to discourage us from rising from defeat.

LOST OPPORTUNITIES

Image
LOST OPPORTUNITIES Luke 15:13-22 Devotional:-  bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!” (V. 17) NKJV      Opportunities are means God has created to prosper us in life. But the sad story is that some men with opportunities are not always aware of the opportunities until they lose them. It is often said that opportunity once lost may never be regained. This has put many lives in the circle of failure, just because they will always lose their God-giving opportunities.

CONDEMNATION

Image
CONDEMNATION Romans 8:1-5 Devotional:- “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit” (V.1) NKJV      One of the strongest ways the enemy pulls people down is by making them feel condemned. This is simply the act of making a man feel he is not worthy, not qualified, or fit. For the enemy to successfully bring a man to condemnation, he keeps him in memory of his past shortcomings and  Failures. He helps him work the mathematics of “so, therefore” that is he can never amount to anything meaningful in life again.

LONELINESS

Image
LONELINESS           I King 19:1-10 Devotional:- “So he said, "I have been very zealous for the LORD God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life” (V. 10) NKJV      There is a common saying that “everything that has advantages also has disadvantages”. For example, one of the adverse effects of technological development in the world today is loneliness. The development we have in technology is fantastic but it is making us become far from one another. For example, since you can connect with a friend or relative on the telephone, you don’t need to see him/her again. We don’t have to go to the cinema houses before we can enjoy a good movie; it can be watched in individual homes on television. This has become what is greatly contending with our time, faith, and relationship with family, friends and God. Most m...

TERRIBLE BOSS

Image
TERRIBLE BOSS  I Samuel 22:9-19 Devotional:- “Then the king said to the guards who stood about him, "Turn and kill the priests of the LORD, because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled and did not tell it to me." But the servants of the king would not lift their hands to strike the priests of the Lord” (V.17) NKJV      People who do not understand leadership principles or work in it and yet are leaders are often found as bosses. Such people are not there to lead others by example but to destroy the company with their office. They are not ready to serve but only want to lord over others. They have no good plan for their company or nation but they are selfish in their thinking. There is nothing such people cannot do when the power is in their hands.

CONFUSION

Image
CONFUSION I Corinthians 14:32-33 Devotional :- “For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints” (V. 33) NKJV      Confusion is a state of the heart when you don’t know what to do next amid situations. A man could come into such a state when he feels uncomfortable with the counsel of others. This could happen when someone believes they have good ideas but the ideas are not working. This could also occur when a man is not patient enough to consider his ways before making decisions. This could happen when a man finds himself in an unexpected situation that affects him beyond his control. It is often an aftermath of failure.

LACK OF HELP

Image
LACK OF HELP Psalm 121:1-8 Devotional:- “I look up to the mountains- does my help come from there?” (V. 1) NLT      God has not created man to succeed alone. He created us to need each other. And that is where help comes in. No man can achieve or attain anything without the help of God. No one can truly receive help from others unless God approves it for them (II Kings 6:27).

DREAMS

Image
DREAMS Genesis 41:1-8 Devotional:- “Now it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled, and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt and all its wise men. And Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was no one who could interpret them for Pharaoh” (V.8) NKJV      There is hardly a man, who does not dream. A dream is quite different from a vision, though vision could be communicated through dreams. Dreams have become a way by which the devil has tormented many people. Such people experience bad dreams and they become afraid and troubled. We could see the same thing happening in the scripture we read today.

DESTROYER OF STRENGTH

Image
DESTROYER OF STRENGTH Joshua 7:2-12 Devotional:-“Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they have become doomed to destruction. Neither will I be with you anymore, unless you destroy the accursed from among you.” (V. 12) NKJV      The God of heaven is great amidst the children of Israel (Isaiah 12:6). This made them conquer their enemies and possess the land of promise. Among other cities, they conquered Jericho (Joshua 6). God promised to be with them all through to conquer all other cities.

STOP THAT FEAR

Image
STOP THAT FEAR     Matthew 14:22-33 “And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It is a ghost!" And they cried out for fear” (V. 26) NKJV      The enemy has gained so much ground in the lives of some people that they are always afraid of everything. God’s word says “Fear has torment” (1 John 4:18), Fear is destructive to life and destiny. Fear would not let a man live to see fulfillment of his destiny. Since fear is the opposite of faith, no fearful man can exercise faith to receive from God.

UNBELIEF

Image
UNBELIEF II Kings 7:1-16 Devotional:- “Look, even if the Lord should open the floodgates of heavens, could this happen” (V. 2) NIV      So many people today face the problem of unbelief, which has made their lives miserable. They don’t believe anything that they cannot see. The word of God says the just shall live by faith (2 Corinthians 5:7). Whatever they cannot reason out with their natural mind, they disbelief. Such people will always argue over the truth.

WRONG TEAM

Image
WRONG TEAM II Samuel 16:15-22 Devotional:- “And Ahithophel said to Absalom, "Go in to your father's concubines, whom he has left to keep the house; and all Israel will hear that you are abhorred by your father. Then the hands of all who are with you will be strong" (V21) NKJV      God has not created any man to be alone. He has prepared some wonderful people to work with you to Succeed. Wherever you may find yourself, there are people ordained by God to help you either in your school, office, home or church of Jesus. All of us have been created to help one another.

WORRY AND ANXIETY

Image
WORRY AND ANXIETY Matthew 6:25-34 Devotional:- “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? (V.27) NIV      One of the most common challenges in the lives of people today is worry and anxiety. This has resulted in many people becoming sick. People worry virtually over everything. Most of us don’t know that worrying is doubting the ability or the power of God to sustain our lives.

INFERIORITY COMPLEX

Image
INFERIORITY COMPLEX Judges 6:7-16 Devotional:- “But Lord ‘Gideon asked’ how can l save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family” (V. 15) NIV When God looks at us anytime, He sees us with the rich things He has created in us. This makes people to be surprised whenever God calls them to an assignment. It is the reason every God-given vision is always greater than man. If God opens the eye of your spirit to see what He has in stock for you, you may doubt the possibility. If you observe when God called Moses, he saw himself as not qualified and said “But am a stammerer but God sees great leadership potential in him (Exodus 4: 10-14). So also, is Jeremiah who said: “l am a child (Jeremiah 1:6-7). So also in the scripture we read today, Gideon said “l am the least in my family”. I don’t know how you see yourself too. Probably you have a poor background or there is no one to help you. These are not strong factors for failure. God has deposited rich t...

YOUR BACKGROUND

Image
YOUR BACKGROUND   I Samuel 9:17-22 Devotional:- “Pardon me, sir, “Saul replied, I’m from the tribe of Benjamin, the  Smallest in Israel, and my family is the least important of all the families of the tribe! You must have the wrong man!” (V. 21) TLB      It is often said that every man is a product of his background. Just like every stream is a product of its source. Sometimes, no amount of training can change a person, as their background remains a significant factor . He may be afraid to do some wrong things in front of others, but in private, he might be doing it. Asking some people to divorce their background is like asking them to die. Yet some people live in backgrounds that will never make them succeed or excel in life. If we focus on our background, we could disqualify ourselves from being able to attain great achievements in life

LOOSE TONGUE

Image
LOOSE TONGUE II Samuel 1:1-16 Devotional:- “So David said to him, "How was it you were not afraid to put forth your hand to destroy the LORD's anointed?” (V.14) NKJV      The greatest challenge in the life of some people is their loose tongue. That is a tongue that cannot be controlled. They open it to say all sorts of things. There is no word too heavy for them to utter. To them, it is a pleasure to abuse others. They see it as a game. So, in abusing no one must win them. They know all the words to describe and make a man feel troubled. Little do they know that they have taken to wrong path of life.  James 1:26, 1 Peter 3:10,

BAD HABIT

Image
BAD HABIT II Kings 5:11-26 Devotional:- “But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, "Look, my master has spared Naaman this Syrian, while not receiving from his hands what he brought; but as the LORD lives, I will run after him and take something from him” (V. 20) NKJV      So many people on earth would have been successful except for the bad habits in their lives. Such grows in our lives when we are careless about them. We are creatures made to be able to create habits. There are success habits and there are failure habits. Success habits will guarantee you success and failure habits will surely bring failure. Habits are what we are used to but it is no longer easy to depart from. People would have corrected us but we refused to listen. We need to be aware that bad habits are there to ruin our lives. You must therefore be willing to see its end before it sees your end.

UNFORGIVENESS

Image
UNFORGIVENESS Matthew 18:21-36 Devotional:- “Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?” (V. 33) NKJV      Sometimes it is painful when we have to forgive someone who has done something hurtful to us. This is because we believe he had done it out of a wicked heart and needs to be repaid with the right coin. That is why some people will even go to the point of physical combat. That is, they want to punish their offenders. Because of unforgiveness, best friends have been separated, many marriages have suffered divorce, and we have despised people who could be of blessing and help to us. If God were dealing with us how we deal with others, we would no longer be alive. If men were God, they would have killed all men.

LACK OF PURPOSE

Image
LACK OF PURPOSE Judges 9:8-15 Devotional:- “But the olive tree said to them, 'Should I cease giving my oil, With which they honor God and men, And go to sway over trees?' (V. 9) NKJV      One of the strongest weapons against the success of most people on earth is lack of purpose. This is a primary prerequisite to the fulfillment of all humans in life. We are often blindfolded with greed and what we want to gain, which shifts our focus from our purpose that would have aided our success. If only all humans would understand their purpose, then there would be no need for anyone to be envious of another. There will be no need for anyone to become an armed robber. And there will be no reason for anyone to be poor.

WRONG ASSOCIATION

Image
WRONG ASSOCIATION                Proverbs 13:18-21 Devotional:- “He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed” (V. 20) NKJV      It is not in the plan of God that we live our lives in any form of bondage.

IT IS FINISHED

Image
IT IS FINISHED John 19:28-30 Devotional:- “So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit” (V. 30) NKJV      No matter the battles or challenges we may be going through today, Jesus’ statement is the final. That will always be the endpoint. No matter what the enemy is doing in our lives, Jesus has said, “It is finished”. The strength of our faith is the revelation of God’s word to our hearts. If you could grasp an in-depth understanding of the statement, “it is finished”, then you are a perpetual winner.

POWER OF OBEDIENCE

Image
POWER OF OBEDIENCE John 2:1-10 Devotional:- “His mother said to the servants, "Whatever He says to you, do it” (V. 5) NKJV           In facing the battles of life, you need to realize the power of obedience. Jesus is our comma nder and obedience to Him is not optional. A soldier who will not listen to his commander may become a victim. This is because the commanders are always in the position to see ahead via several pieces of information and their instructions are important.

SPEAKING THE WORD

Image
SPEAKING THE WORD Hebrew 4:8-12        Devotional:- “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (V. 12) NKJV.      Children of God have to come to an understanding of the power of the word of God. Many of us carry the bible in our hands without knowing the power in it. It is like a powerful weapon in the hands of a slothful or weak person, or a living instrument in the hands of a dead man. So, the word of God could be powerless if people lack understanding (Hosea 4:6). That Bible in your hands is the strongest weapon that heaven and earth have and recognize (Jeremiah 23:29). It contains the words spoken by God.

CONFIDENCE IN GOD

Image
CONFIDENCE IN GOD Philippians 4:10-19 Devotional:-  “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (V. 13)      Heaven is always waiting to honor the confidence of believers. There is a ready-made testimony waiting for manifestation whenever you rise by faith to attain anything. But often, we miss this divine grace when we repose our confidence in ourselves. Yes, we are ordained by God to demonstrate the power of God on earth but the glory must always go to God. He said; my glory, will I not share with another (Isaiah 42:8). So, your confidence must be in Him.

STRENGTH

Image
STRENGTH Proverb 24:1-5 Devotional:- “A wise man is strong Yea a man of knowledge increaseth strength” KJV      Victory in the world belongs only to strong people. Strength is in different dimensions. Someone may be strong financially, and another may be strong politically. Someone else may be strong socially, and someone else may be strong physically. But do you know that all of these are not strong enough to overcome in this world? Yes, they could go to some length, but they have their limitations. To be strong enough to overcome, you need spiritual strength. This is the Supreme strength. This controls all other forms of strength.

CHILD OF PROMISE

Image
CHILD OF PROMISE Galatians 4:21-31 Devotional:- “Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise.” (V. 28) NKJV      When God instructed Abraham to leave his country, God promised him that he would be a father of nations. On their journey, God also promised him Isaac who would be born by Sarah, his wife. When this promise seemed delayed, Sarah gave her maid Haggar to Abraham who gave birth to Ishmael. But God told Abraham to send the woman and her son away for the child of promise who was Isaac.

GOD OF RESTORATION.

Image
GOD OF RESTORATION. Judges 16:21-31 Devotional:- “However, the hair of his bead began to grow again after it has been shaven” (V. 22) NKJV      As people grow in this world, they grow with some measure of strength for victory. However, such strength soon begins to depreciate when they are faced with the challenges of this world. The enemy is always happy that you are reducing in strength. He specializes in de-roping men of their strength.

YOUR VICTORY IS CERTAIN

Image
YOUR VICTORY IS CERTAIN John 16:25-33 Devotional:- “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (V 33) NKJV      Two forces are ruling in this world: the force of God and that of the devil i.e., light and darkness, good and evil. These two forces are always willing to rule in the heart of anyone who allows them. Darkness and light don’t co-exist, so you cannot have them together. The moment there is light; darkness cannot stand, it has to vanish. However, one is stronger than the other. For example, darkness will always give way whenever you put on the light in a dark room.
