PROMISES Isaiah 55:1-13  Devotional:- “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it” (V.11) NKJV One thing that is common with lovers are promises. It is part of what a true lover will want to hear. To a true lover, a promise is like a cheque capable of turning into cash. So when people who love us promise us, we cherish the promises. And when we remember them, it gladdens our heart. We even sometime feel happy enough to share it with other friends. One other terrible thing that is common with people is failing to fulfill promises. That is why it will be unwise to marry someone based on mare promises. These failure in promises of people, in some cases, are due to the inadequacy of human strength, or unforeseen circumstances that can overtake the promises, so the promised often feel deceived. JOYFUL

JOYFUL

Nehemiah 8:1-11
Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” (V 10)

One of the lifestyles of victors is that they live always in joy. If you observe some strong men you know, you will observe this in them. Sorrow has nothing good to offer any man. It will rather demoralise and evaporates our strength.

Sorrow is never a foundation of faith. It only produces fear and make men becomes very cheap for the devil to overcome. But joy is our inward delight and liberty expressed in the face of battle (Proverbs 15:13). It is a virtue that expresses the good state of man’s mind. A joyful mind is the fittest for victory in every situation. Joy gives strength to the mind of man. It is a good foundation for faith and confidence (Isaiah 12:3).

If you are aiming at living victoriously, then joyful living is essential. Haven’t understand the evil of sorrow, Nehemiah quickly warn God’s people against it. Letting them know that joy in God is they strength they have.

Friend, choose to live in joy. It is sweeter. It is the best for you. Handover your sorrow to Jesus and take His Joy (1 Peter 5:7). Always be conscious of His presence (Psalm 16:11). Then you will always find the joy of the Lord for strength that you desire.

Prayer: Lord, help me to always choose joy no matter the situation

‘JOY IS AN ATMOSPHERE FOR STRENGTH AND VICTORY’
