That is, they get annoyed and refuse to relate to one another. Many of us have some people we don’t greet now on this account. Some people have taken offence at their parents and relations, and they refused to relate to them. The truth is that if you know the harm you are doing to yourself by so doing, you will give up on this.   In the scripture we read today, John the Baptist was not happy because Jesus did not come to rescue him from prison, and he took offence at Christ. He sent messengers to Jesus to ask if He was the Christ or not. This question see...

MODEST TALK

MODEST TALK

1 Corinthians 4:6-13
Devotional:- "For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?" (V.7)

When love is talking, he does it modestly and not with boast. To boast is to talk arrogantly. It is to blow ones trumpet. It is to proudly talk about ones achievements. A boaster always wants to prove that he is somebody which he needs not to boast about. There is nothing wrong in talking about your achievements but it has to be done in a matured manner with modesty and not in pride. To boast is not maturity and in most cases it is because of sense of security.

Wherever you find people that boast, there can be no sincerity of love. There will rather be unhealthy rivalry. To always talk with a heart of love, you must humble yourself to know that whatever you have is not really yours because God gave them to you and you will give account of them (2 Corinthians 4:7). You must realize that all you have is a privilege and not a right. Please know that if anyone is bragging, it is a sign of sense of insecurity and immaturity. You need to know that boasting is lording self over other (Mark 10:42-43).

Friend, if you keep talking like the owner of the world, people will resent and resist you because you are not saying the truth. As a teacher or a leader at home or in the public setting, people will not learn from you but resisting you when you talk boastfully. If you are modest in talking, you will have many follower (Proverbs 18:24). Peace.

PRAYER: Holy Spirit, help me to grow above boasting

“A boaster will loose friends, even in his house”
