WAITING ON THE LORD

WAITING ON THE LORD 2 Samuel 5:1-10 Devotional:- “David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years” (v.4) NKJV One of the good virtues of God we must always appreciate is His faithfulness. God is not a man that will lie; whatever He has said in His word, He is able to do and He shall do. You can always plug yourself into His promises as much as you work in His covenants. I always tell people never to think God’s word is written only to some specific persons we hear or read about in the Bible. The word of God is the standard practice and programme of God. They were only privileged to be the ones to receive the word at their time, but God is still the same, and so is His word. In claiming the word of God, you must learn to be able to patiently wait. People who will retain their joy must add this virtue to their life (Hebrews 6:12). Our scripture today told us of the installation of David as king, but that was a promise he received from God when he was about 1...

BE STRONG

BE STRONG

Ephesians 6:10-13
Devotional:- “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might” (v. 10) NKJV

Victory in this world is not given just to the aged; it is given to the strong. Part of the New Testament covenant of God for believers is victory (1 john 5:4). But it is important that believers realised that strength is not what we acquire because we like it or not. It is a commandment of the Lord. God’s word says “Be strong in the Lord”, that is not a suggestion or an advice, it is a commandment.

It therefore means to choose weakness as a Christian is choice of disobedience to the Lord. Most of us have various genuine excuses why we don’t want to be strong in the Lord. This varies from office and business engagement to lack of time to grow in the Lord. But it is important that you realise that those excuses will not be tenable when battle of life rises.

Our scripture today shows us that we need to put on the whole armour of God, not some. These armors are itemised in the scripture we read today. Take time out to study each of them till you grow in them all. Some Christian only wants to grow their prayer life and not their word life; others want to grow business life and not their faith life. The entire syllabus is compulsory if you must win. Grow in them one after the other and your victory will be inevitable. Peace.

Prayer: Lord, teach me the way of your strength.

“No one thing gives birth to strength, it takes the whole”
