PRETENDING

PRETENDING Proverbs 13:1-10 Devotional:- “There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing; And one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches” (v.7) NKJV One other instrument of the devil to steal people’s joy is to fill their hearts with pretence. To pretend is to behave or talk like, or put yourself in a status, that you are not. It is to use what you don’t have to impress people who do not like you. It is to give people a false impression about you. This always results in a show of shame and sorrow. In the scripture we read today, there is the picture of a poor man who pretended to be rich. Who is he deceiving? Today you will see some people borrowing to spray at a party. Some will arrive at a beer parlour and ask everybody to be served, while at home, there is no food, and children's school fees are yet to be paid. Some are known to be very good outside to their secretaries, receptionists and the like, while at home they don’t have any credibility (Proverbs 12:9, Job 2...

GOD’S REVELATION

GOD’S REVELATION

Read: 1 Samuel 17:23–32
Devotional:- “Then David spoke to the men who stood by him, saying, “What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?” (V.26)

Everyone at the face of battle needs what will arouse our mind to strength. The weapon of God that produces our faith is the revelation in the word of God. When God’s word is revealed to our heart, it creates tremendous power. It breeds faith in us and makes us to operate in the supernatural strength of God for our victory.

The day David came to the battlefront of the children of Israel and the Philistines; God revealed to him that the army of Israel was not an ordinary army. He saw that the living God is the captain of this army. So he had a different revelation and understanding of the army of Israel. As for Saul they were ordinarily his army but in the mind of David, they were the army of the living God. All of us know that no one can face the living God. So if God is for us we cannot afford to be mocked by the uncircumcised enemy (Romans 8:31). This is what formed the basis of his victory.

Friend, seek to see God in His word. It in His word you will find His mind about you and strength will arouse in you for victory.

Prayer: Lord, reveal yourself to me in your word (Psalms 119:18).

“WHAT YOU SEE ABOUT GOD DETERMINES YOUR CONFIDENCE”.
