THE HEART OF WORSHIP

THE HEART OF WORSHIP Romans 6:1-14 Devotional:- “And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God” (V. 13) Since worship is our first purpose on earth we need to know that worship will not be worship if we don’t surrender to God. So, surrendering is the heart of worship. In our world today, surrender sound negative. It could mean to give up or losing or admit your defeat. But it is giving ourselves to God not out of fear or necessity but in love (1 John 4:9-19). Three things often attempt to block our mind from total surrendering to God, fear, pride and confusion. As kingdom citizen, please know it that you must learn to trust God. A woman will not be able to surrender to her husband if she does not trust him and so also you to God. To truly surrender to God, you must admit your weaknesses and limitations. That is when you truly want to ask ...

EMPTY PROMISES

EMPTY PROMISES

Matthew 5:23-37
Devotional Verse:- “But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God's throne” (Vs. 34).

Many people make promises but lack the ability to fulfill them. Some promises had better not be put to heart because the maker might fail to take the responsibility of fulfilling them. Making promises without fulfilling them should not be the lifestyle of any citizen of the kingdom of God (Eccl 5:5).

In today’s Scripture, Jesus teaches us to stop making empty promises; insisting that there is no need to swear any oath as a child of God (Deuteronomy 23:22). The Bible says that we must let our ‘yes be yes’ and our ‘no be no’ (Matthew 5:37). Jesus also said that making empty promises is the practice of the evil one which is ungodly.

Whenever we are faced with legal issues that demand swearing with the Bible, God expects us to say what we mean and mean what we say. Don’t promise what you can’t do because it will put you in bond age (Proverbs 22:26-27). You are not living to please anyone but God (1 Thessalonians 2:4). Always be sincere with yourself. It is only by doing this that you will find peace and integrity. Peace!

Prayer: Lord, help me not to just swear but to always say the truth

“MAKING EMPTY PROMISES IS AN UNGODLY ACT”.
