CELEBRATION

CELEBRATION 2 Chronicles 30:21-27 Devotional:- “So there was great joy in Jerusalem, for since the time of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel, there had been nothing like this in Jerusalem” (v.26) NKJV When we make ourselves available for the service of the Lord, we plug our lives into joy. This is because we are actually created to serve the Lord (Revelation 4:11). And when anyone finds himself doing what he is created to do, he finds fulfilment. The children of Israel in the time of Hezekiah, the king, gathered together to celebrate the feast of Passover. This was one of the feasts God commanded. This celebration is an opportunity to serve the Lord. They came together to yield in obedience to God’s instruction, and this produced great joy among them. Some cooking, some cleaning and others involved in other things just to make the feast successful. See, you need to know that you are not just created to go to school, work, earn, build a house, buy cars, have a wife, childre...

DON’T CALL FOR ATTENTION

DON’T CALL FOR ATTENTION

Matthew 6:1-4
Devotional Verse:-“that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly” (Vs. 4)

Everyone loves to be commended and recommended. But the citizens of the kingdom of God allow God to prove them and do not call for attention by their good deeds. Some people call for attention by showing on TV how they give to the needy. If this is done with a motive of blessing others with the awareness of such privilege, then it is great, but it is not meant for show off.
In our Scripture today, Jesus tells us that we should be careful of how we do our good deeds to others so as not to miss our reward (Matthew 6:5). Remember that, the Bible says the glory of God should not be given to another (Isaiah 42:8). However, for whatever we do, we will be rewarded when the glory is giving to God. Calling attention to yourself is an act of taking the glory of God.

To let all glory be given to God, we must not do our good works to show off. The moment we are waiting for people to applaud us, then, we are taking God’s glory. No one does that and receive the reward of God. We should not announce to the world the good works we are doing. If we do so, then we have already received our reward. When Jesus heal people, He often tell them not to tell it to anyone (Matthew 8:3-4, Mark 7:35-36). These are examples for us. For all your good works, you will not miss your reward in Jesus name. Peace!

Prayer: Lord, help me to always return all the glory to you.
