ACKNOWLEDGING HIM

ACKNOWLEDGING HIM Proverbs 3:1-8  Devotional:- “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (v.6) KJV. To be able to enjoy God’s loving kindness, all of us must learn to always acknowledge God in all our decision-making. This simply means that we recognise Him as our owner and the one who is qualified to instruct us on where to turn. When we gave our lives to Christ, we all confessed Jesus as our Lord. This means we acknowledge Him as the one who has the final decision over our lives. But we often forget to carry Him along in making decisions that will, in the end, have a great adverse effect on our lives. If we are to enjoy the love and the goodness of the Lord, we must learn to acknowledge Him. And this is by patiently asking Him for His instructions for us. The truth is that He will always guide us. He said, “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye” (Psalms 32:8). The truth is that you are gu...

FORBEARANCE OF GOD

FORBEARANCE OF GOD

Jonah 4:6-11
Devotional:- “And should I not pity Nineveh, that great city, in which are more than one hundred and twenty thousand persons who cannot discern between their right hand and their left-and much livestock?” (V. 11) NKJV

It is amazing to see how God forbear with the sons of men. If not that the Lord can forbear, we will all have been consumed longest time. He is a God who understands us and always gives us a long rope to pull. Yet, men often abuse this and destroy themselves.

Nineveh was a city of about 120 thousand people as the Bible says. A time came when this city sinned against God and He decided to destroy the city. But as in the habit of God, He sent Jonah to this city to preach to them to warn them to repent or face destruction. Jonah was reluctant to take the assignment because he did not want to be ridiculed, since he knew God could have mercy on them. Jonah wanted them terrified by his message of doom but the people repented in fasting and God forgave them.

Friend, you need to know that His mercy has kept you and me. It is because God forbear and tolerate that we have not been destroyed (Lamentation 3:22). That is why we must be careful not to allow this attitude of God to make us feel God is not bothered. If not, His forbearance could make the careless to face His rath. God always expect us to repent and change with time. He always has hope in you that you shall be better. That is why you must change and be better. And you will not be destroyed.

Prayer: Lord, help me to take advantage of your forbearance for my change.
