DISTRACTING DISTRACTION

Matthew 6:21-24
Devotional:- “The light of the body is the eye; if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light” (V. 22) KJV

    One way the devil works out defeat and failure in people's lives is through distraction. Distraction is a great enemy on the road to success. It has successfully held so many people hostage. You will not be its victim in Jesus name.

Sometimes, when you want to concentrate on achieving a goal, it’s then the enemy will bring a distraction. When you plan to read, he will entice you to sleep or to spend time thinking about what is not necessary. It is when you have an appointment that he will bring weariness and slow your action. When you are praying, he will do His best to divert your thoughts to several places. His aim is to get you distracted from reaching your goal.

The power to overcome the Spirit of distraction is prescribed in the scripture We read today. “Let your eyes be single”. In other words “if your eyes are healthy or sound” This is when your eyes can focus to see well or deeper. This demands that you focus on one thing at a time. This does not mean you cannot multitask. Always concentrate on whatever you are doing at a point in time. Jack of all trades will end up being the master of none. There is time for everything. Let time be appointed to everything you do. The devil will always want to use what you like to distract you from getting what you need. But please be willing to sacrifice what you like and get what you need.

Money could also be a distraction. Be careful not to be possessed by the spirit of mammon which is the love of money, this could distract you from your focus. Let your love rather be for God and the pursuit of his purpose for your life. Then you will be full of revelation and understanding to fulfil your calling, and then you will see all the good things of life waiting for you at the end.

PRAYER: LORD, GIVE ME THE STRENGTH FOR A SINGLE FOCUS.

“DISTRACTION IS SIMPLY AN ATTRACTION FOR DESTRUCTION"

The Bible did not advise us to do business but it commanded us. That is why it would be wrong for you and me to be without a business. That makes idleness a crime against self (1 Thessalonians 4:11). Business is whatever you are doing to earn income. God will not accommodate idleness with anyone because He invested heavily in us.

  DOMINION   Psalms 8:1-9 Devotional:- “You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet” (V. 6) NKJV      At creation, man was given dominion over all that God created. This office was at that time a terrifying one for other creatures and even the devil. (Psalms 8.6; Psalms 110:1-3). It was this office that the devil was after that he had to deceive man and steal. You will observe that man was the last creature of God (Genesis 1:26). Yet he was made to have dominion over all that existed before him. The devil saw this as partiality on the side of God. He did not know that though man was the last creation yet the finest. The man was finally created to be in charge of all creation.
