COMPARISM

COMPARISM 2 Corinthians 10:7-18 Devotional:- “Oh, don't worry; we wouldn't dare say that we are as wonderful as these other men who tell you how important they are! But they are only comparing themselves with each other, using themselves as the standard of measurement. How ignorant!” (v.12) NLT. Man, by his complexity, sometimes creates complications for himself in life. One of the things we often do incorrectly is to measure our lives by comparing them to other people’s lives. We often forget that we are sent for a different purpose, so our goals and objectives cannot be the same. There is nothing wrong with trying to gauge your level of performance against others in the same field. But it will be completely wrong for you to determine whether you are a failure or a success by the life of another man. Paul, the apostle of Christ, knows that his own purpose and program are from the Lord and are different from what others have been given. For example, if some apostles were marr...

JOY

JOY

Scripture Reading: Nehemiah 8:1-11
Devotional:- “Then he said to them, "Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength."” (v. 10) NKJV

Whenever we look into the subject of joy, the people of the world always mistaken to be happiness. Happiness is produced by happenings, an event or a result. The truth is that there is no permanent event or result in this world. This makes it impossible for happiness to give a lasting joy. For example, as a football fan, your team may win today and lose tomorrow. When they win, you have strength in your mouth to talk. But when they lose, the strength is gone.

The joy of the Lord is of the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17). This joy is by the flow of the spirit of God. Since it is of the Spirit, it ignites your will to move you into action. This joy makes us to be able to stand when we look weak. It made us to be unstoppable by any kind of happening. Yes joy comes from the spirit of God in us, while happiness comes from the things or events of this world.

Friend, give yourself to fellowship with the word of God, with the presence of God and the people of God (Psalms 16:11; Psalms 122:1). Then you will find the strength of joy. Peace.

PRAYER: Lord, connect me to the joy of the Holy Spirit.

“JOY OF THE SPIRIT IS THE EVIDENCE OF THE PRESENCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT”
