PRETENDING

PRETENDING Proverbs 13:1-10 Devotional:- “There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing; And one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches” (v.7) NKJV One other instrument of the devil to steal people’s joy is to fill their hearts with pretence. To pretend is to behave or talk like, or put yourself in a status, that you are not. It is to use what you don’t have to impress people who do not like you. It is to give people a false impression about you. This always results in a show of shame and sorrow. In the scripture we read today, there is the picture of a poor man who pretended to be rich. Who is he deceiving? Today you will see some people borrowing to spray at a party. Some will arrive at a beer parlour and ask everybody to be served, while at home, there is no food, and children's school fees are yet to be paid. Some are known to be very good outside to their secretaries, receptionists and the like, while at home they don’t have any credibility (Proverbs 12:9, Job 2...

DISCOURAGEMENT

DISCOURAGEMENT

Scripture Readings: 1 Samuel 30:1-8
Devotional:- “Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God” (v. 6) NKJV

The strength of every child of God is in courage of faith. That is why God told Joshua to be strong and courageous (Joshua 1:6). The opposite of courage is discouragement. The devil having known that your strength for victory and progress is in courage will always want to discourage you.

Sometimes, when we are discouraged, it looks like that is the right thing to do at that moment. But it is not true in any way. Whenever you are getting discouraged, it is the trick is of the enemy to destroy your strength. When David and his people got back to Ziklag, they were discouraged by what they saw. Thank God, one them encouraged himself to take the right step (1 Samuel 30:6).

Friend, whatever reasons you are getting discouraged; it is the trick of the enemy to destroy your strength. Even when you don't find anyone to encourage you, please encourage yourself. When there is life, there is hope. Do you know that the followers of David was about to stone him? Thank God he encouraged himself. Friend, don't allow the devil to destroy your strength in God. Brace up, God's love for you is unshakable. His plans concerning you cannot fail. Peace.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to pick back my courage in you.

“CELEBRATE HIS PROMISES AND YOU WILL PICK BACK YOUR COURAGE”
