HOW REAL SERVANTS ACT

HOW REAL SERVANTS ACT Mark 10:35-45 Devotional:- “Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant” (V. 43).   The world defines greatness in terms of power, possessions, prestige and position but God determined your greatness by how many people you serve. This is quite contrary to the world view. Jesus called Himself servant and to be like Him is to be a servant. That is why it is so important to have a servant’s heart. God often test our heart by asking us to serve even outside our shape or area of interest. Your priority area of service should be in your area of shape, but God could demand for your service wherever needed. Looking at how a servant act is important because one could serve in a church for years and not be a real servant. Real servants make themselves available to serve. If you only serve when it is convenient, then you are not a good servant (2 Timothy 2:4). Real servants pay attention to needs, always lo...

GREATNESS

GREATNESS

Read: Mark 10:35-45
Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant (Vs. 43).

In the kingdom of the world, greatness is achieved by acquiring certain volume of wealth or having affluence for influence. In our political world today, if anyone does not have affluence, it will not be easy for him or her to have influence to win an election.

Jesus taught the disciples about the way to greatness in the kingdom of God. That way is by our service. That is, humbling oneself to serve others. Service is taking a low place so as to use your talent to bless others. Service is laboring to make others become what God wants them to be by the grace of God which He has given you. Service is using your time and energy to raise others.

When people serve, they work for God either in the house, office or in the house of the Lord. As they serve, they are investing their seeds for great harvest. Service is using your opportunity to enhance the lifting of others. As you serve, God will remember you in the shortest of time. Anytime God is looking for people to lift up, He always looks for people in service (1 Samuel 16:1,11). Service becomes rewardable when it is unto the Lord and not unto man, money or materials (Ephesians 6:7). Find a place to serve both in the church office and in your community. As you do that, soon your lifting will come. Peace!

Prayer: Lord, I receive the grace to be humble and to serve.
