A FRIEND

A FRIEND John 15:9-17  Devotional:- “...but l have called you friends…” (V. 15) In this generation, it is not a common thing to find true friends. This is someone who goes all out to see to your well-being. Someone who wants to identify with you in all situations. Someone who is not feeling fine until he sees you, someone who daily remembers to pray and intercede for you. It can be a terrible thing sometimes when you desire to share your mind with someone, and no one is willing to listen to you, or someone who could offer a little help. Sometimes we could be in need of a little encouragement, but no one to really do it. The people who are supposed to encourage us are the ones who misunderstand us and condemn us. We need to come to the understanding that God is our friend. He is not just your Lord and God. He always wants to listen to you. He is not happy when you are not (Hebrews 4:15). THE POOR IN SPIRIT

THE POOR IN SPIRIT

Read: Luke 6:20-23
Then He lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said: “Blessed are you poor, For yours is the kingdom of God. (Vs. 20)

This teachings of Jesus are referred to as the beatitudes which mean the blessings. Jesus talked about being poor in the spirit. Jesus used these teachings to enlighten us on the blessings of the kingdom of God. It looks quite different from the factors of human blessings because it is not of the kingdom of men.

To be poor in the spirit is to be meek, teachable and correctable. It is to live a life that is not over attached to anything. This is a great virtue in the sight of God (I Peter 3:4). It means, to feel empty and unsatisfied with God. It is the zeal of wanting more of God. Such people will get deeper and deeper with God.

Jesus said that it is only people who are poor in the spirit that will have the kingdom of God. This is a possessive language which means that they will be in control in the kingdom of God. They will be people of authority in the kingdom of God. They will speak and the angels of God will carry out their requests and instructions (Isaiah 66:2). They will be honorable both in heaven and on earth. They will not lose anything in this world and will still have abundance in eternity. Wake up and receive. Peace!

Prayer: Lord, help me to know you more and better.
