Some people rashly give words of promises, and it has become a snare to their lives. Many even ignorantly go into covenant with others in the name of family relation or financial help and could not fulfil their pledge. Some give pledges in public, though they are not sure if they will be able to pay. Some have borrowed money and have not been able to pay back after promising to do so. It is better not to promise than to promise and not fulfil it; be very careful rushing to make dangerous promises. Else God will not count you innocent and faithful. And his riches may be blocked from flowing into your life since you are seen as being unfaithful. God may not respect your word any longer if you are this type of person.
Take the wisdom of God's word and humble yourself by putting aside your status or the post you occupy. Go to your friend or whoever you made the promise to, and plead with him or her. Let there be a sincere agreement and arrangement of how you will pay or fulfil your promise. Don’t hide or run away from the person until you have fully paid or fulfilled it, so that your liberty may come. God will also be ready to help you
Then, henceforth, let your yes always be yes and your no always no ( Matt. 5:37). Don’t let debt become a burden or barrier for your success in life.
Prayer: Lord, give me the courage to walk out of debt
forever
