WAITING ON THE LORD
WAITING ON THE LORD
2 Samuel 5:1-10Devotional:- “David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years” (v.4) NKJV
One of the good virtues of God we must always appreciate is His faithfulness. God is not a man that will lie; whatever He has said in His word, He is able to do and He shall do. You can always plug yourself into His promises as much as you work in His covenants. I always tell people never to think God’s word is written only to some specific persons we hear or read about in the Bible. The word of God is the standard practice and programme of God. They were only privileged to be the ones to receive the word at their time, but God is still the same, and so is His word.
In claiming the word of God, you must learn to be able to patiently wait. People who will retain their joy must add this virtue to their life (Hebrews 6:12). Our scripture today told us of the installation of David as king, but that was a promise he received from God when he was about 16 years old (I Samuel 16:11-13). He had to pass through situations, but having employed the wisdom of patience, the promises eventually came to pass.
Friend, you need to learn the same wisdom if you are going to be counted among the winners. He made all things beautiful in their time (Ecclesiastes 3:11). Listen to this, the higher God is taking you, the tougher the journey will be. People who are not going far may get there quickly, but if God is taking you higher like He took Abraham, Joseph, David, Moses, and Caleb, then learn the wisdom of patience. Though the promise may tarry, it will surely come (Habakkuk 2:3). Job said, I will wait until my change comes (Job 14:14). Your miracle is at the door; be patient.
Prayer: Lord, give me the grace to wait.
