PRETENDING

PRETENDING Proverbs 13:1-10 Devotional:- “There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing; And one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches” (v.7) NKJV One other instrument of the devil to steal people’s joy is to fill their hearts with pretence. To pretend is to behave or talk like, or put yourself in a status, that you are not. It is to use what you don’t have to impress people who do not like you. It is to give people a false impression about you. This always results in a show of shame and sorrow. In the scripture we read today, there is the picture of a poor man who pretended to be rich. Who is he deceiving? Today you will see some people borrowing to spray at a party. Some will arrive at a beer parlour and ask everybody to be served, while at home, there is no food, and children's school fees are yet to be paid. Some are known to be very good outside to their secretaries, receptionists and the like, while at home they don’t have any credibility (Proverbs 12:9, Job 2...

YOUR HEART

YOUR HEART

Deuteronomy 11:8-17
Dev:- “'And it shall be that if you earnestly obey My commandments which I command you today, to love the LORD your God and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul,” (v. 13)

God has given each man a unique heart to be used in our stewardship. The term heart represents our soul where our desires, hope, interest, dreams, affections, passion and all our motivations are made. It’s what determines what you love to do and what you care about most (Proverbs 27:19). It determine what you say and why you say them (Matthew 12:34). Deep in our instinct is what make us think of and care for something of interest than others. Some things turn you on and others bore you. God gives you this inborn interest for a purpose. All of these reveals your heart and shows where we ought to serve the Lord.

God wants you to use all these natural interest to serve Him in the area you are most passionate. It is only in your passionate areas you can excel. To know when you are serving with your heart is to observe you enthusiasm when serving. You will be doing what you love to do and no one need to motivate you. Serving with your heart makes you enjoy what you are doing and you don’t need anyone to applause or pay you to do it.

Secondly, you will know you are serving from the heart when you are effective in it. This is because when you are doing what God wired you to do you become good at it (1 Samuel 16:18). Please find out what you enjoy doing and use it to serve the Lord. It is your stewardship. Peace

Prayer: Lord, reveals my heart to me for your glory
