WHAT IS RIGHTEOUSNESS?

WHAT IS RIGHTEOUSNESS?

Scripture Reading: Psalm 15:1-5
Devotional NKJV :- “He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart;” (v. 2)

The dictionary defines righteousness as adhering or conforming to the acceptable norm or moral standard. The world standard of righteousness is not the same as the righteousness of God. There are laws that were made in some nations of the world to approve what God disapproved. For example: That a law made homosexuality acceptable in some country does not make it righteous before God. For any practice to be righteous, it must agree with the word of God.

From the scripture we read today, we saw that righteousness of God is uprightness, justice, integrity, honesty, faithfulness and more before God. As believers, God commanded us to be righteous because righteousness is the nature of God (Matthew 5:48). To have the nature of man, we were born of man, but to have the nature of God we must be born of God (John 3:3-6)

Righteousness is having a right standing with God (Gen.17:1). In other word, this is aligning our life with that of God so that His glory can be seen in us. Just like the moon that reflects the glory of the sun. Jesus shed His blood to purchase the righteousness of God for all who will believe in Him (Romans 3:21-26). It is the righteousness of God through Christ that saves us (1 John 1:7-9). So when God see us He sees His righteousness in us. This makes us to be able to stand before God without guilt (Romans 5:1). No religion practices can give righteousness (Isaiah 64:6). It can be found when the blood of Jesus cleanses you (1 John 1:7-9). By this we are qualify for all God’s goodness. Peace

PRAYER: Lord, give me the grace to be partaker of your righteousness
