A FRIEND

A FRIEND John 15:9-17  Devotional:- “...but l have called you friends…” (V. 15) In this generation, it is not a common thing to find true friends. This is someone who goes all out to see to your well-being. Someone who wants to identify with you in all situations. Someone who is not feeling fine until he sees you, someone who daily remembers to pray and intercede for you. It can be a terrible thing sometimes when you desire to share your mind with someone, and no one is willing to listen to you, or someone who could offer a little help. Sometimes we could be in need of a little encouragement, but no one to really do it. The people who are supposed to encourage us are the ones who misunderstand us and condemn us. We need to come to the understanding that God is our friend. He is not just your Lord and God. He always wants to listen to you. He is not happy when you are not (Hebrews 4:15). He is always around you. He wants to identify with you in all situations. He is not out t...

KEEPING YOUR GARMENT

KEEPING YOUR GARMENT

Scripture Reading: Matthew 22:1-14
Devotional:- “So he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?' And he was speechless” (V12)

It is important that you know that the righteousness of God given to us as a gift through Jesus must be kept clean to the end. Yes, this garment of righteousness is given to us through our faith in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:8-9), yet, it is the responsibility of each of us to maintain it that we might reign with Christ when He returns (Rev.3:4, Rev. 19:8)

Though, the garment of the righteousness of God has been given to us at Salvation, yet, it can be lost (Romans 6:1). So you must keep it clean. To keep the righteousness, you must choose to keep obeying the word of God (Psalm 119:9). Daniel and his friend in Babylon decided not to defile themselves with the food dedicated to idols (Daniel 1:8). So, you and I must constantly make choices of obeying the word of God in this pervert world (Matthew 7:21-23).

Friend, our Salvation and righteousness is paid for, but it can be lost if not maintained with obedience to the word of God (Isaiah 1:20). It is obedience to God that grows the nature of God in us. Remember, whatever is not growing is dying. If you will keep growing the nature of God which is righteousness, you must deliberately choose to walk daily with God (Genesis 17:1). That is why no one can call himself a Christian before God if he is not studying the word of God. It is knowledge that empowers us to act in accordance to the word of God (Joshua 1:8, Psalm 119:9, 11; Proverbs 24:5) Give yourself to studying the word of God (Joshua 1:8). Create a heart of love for the word till it becomes your life style (Psalm 119:97). Then you will find grace to keep obeying the word (John 14:15). You will not lose your garment in Jesus name. Peace.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to love your word and be a doer of it
