AUTHENTIC Scripture Reading: Luke 16:1-8
Devotional:- “So the master commended the unjust steward because he had dealt shrewdly. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light” (V. 8) NKJV
To be able to overcome financial challenges in our lives, we must learn the act of being authentic. Wrong or insincere spending will always lead to poverty. To be authentic is to live a life that is conforming to the fact on ground. To be authentic is to be factual with ourselves when it comes to the decisions on money and spending. Forcing yourself and borrowing to attain friends’ level is consuming the future. The Bible tells us to learn from the unfaithful steward, Jesus did not ask us to learn his unfaithfulness but his act of authenticity. He knew he has messed up. He knew there is no one to help him again. This reality made him to practice smart cheating on his boss. We are not to cheat because we are children of God, but we are to be sincere. Borrowing to look big is foolishness, it is self deception. It is borrowing what you don't have, to feed those who don't love you and to earn a fake honour.
There is a need for us to know our level per time. Don't envy anyone. Sit down to see how you will start to grow your finances from your level of income. Start to save, no matter how small. Be sincere to yourself. Don't pretend anymore. Putting your children in a school that you can't afford the school fees but because the children of your friends attends the school is wrong. The time has come to be factual with yourself. Peace.
PRAYER: Lord, set me free from the spirit of pleasing people.
