LIVING WITH PURPOSE

LIVING WITH PURPOSE Proverbs 19:16-23 Devotional – “You can make many plans, but the LORD's purpose will prevail” (v. 21 NLT) Living on purpose is the only way to really live; everything else just merely exists. Most people struggle with these three questions in life; WHO AM I? (Identity); WHY AM I MADE? (Purpose); WHAT IS MY PLACE IN LIFE? (Impact). The answers to these entire questions are found in five Gods purpose for you. Now that you know God’s purpose for your life, it is important you live in it. For you not to drift away from the most important things of life, it is important to develop a purpose statement for your life and regularly review it. This is a statement that summarizes God’s purpose for your life (Psalm 39:11). It is a statement that point the direction of your life (Proverbs 4:26). NOT AUTOMATIC

NOT AUTOMATIC

Philippians.1:1-11
DEV—“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns” (V.6 NLT)

Knowing fully well that spiritual growth is one of your purpose of been on the earth, then you also need to know that developing Christ-like character takes years, it is not automatic. We open to God bit by bit. Discipleship is the process of conforming to Christ (Romans 12:2, Ephesians 4:13). The truth is that the journey to Christ-likeness is a life time journey. Growth involves believing, belonging (through fellowship) and becoming (through discipleship). Every day God want you to become a little more like Him (Colossians 3:10)

Today we are interested in speed but God is interested in strength and stability than swiftness (2 Corinthians 3:18). The reason it takes time to grow is because we are slow learner.  We often have to relearn a lesson forth or fifty times to really get it. It is also slows because we have a lot to unlearn. It’s unrealistic to unlearn all the habits we develop in years within a short time. It is slow because we are afraid to humbly face the truth about ourselves. The fear of our exposure keeps us in the prison of denial. It is slow because growth is often painful and scary. It is slow because takes time to develop. Your character is the sum total of your habits. The only way to develop Christ-like character is to practice them.

To cooperate with God, just believe He is working in your life even when you don’t feel it, keep a note of your lesson (Hebrews 2:1). Be patience with god and yourself, God is using your entire life to prepare you for eternity. So, don’t get discouraged. Peace!

Prayer – Lord, give me grace to be patient with you
