There is nothing wrong with pleasure, but there is a need to define what it means in a way that it will not bring destruction to you. Pleasure to most people means idleness, sleeping, jesting, watching T.V and all sorts of films, extravagant spending at beer parlous and hotels, eating in all the city kitchens and to some it is just travelling all around. The truth is that none of those things are real pleasure. If those things are what you call pleasures, then, no matter how much you have now, poverty and sorrow are on the way. Real pleasure is not that which man creates for himself, but that which God has given to them that trust in the Lord. It is satisfaction enjoyed by doing the right things (Psalms 36:7-8). Self-sought pleasure may result in sorrow, bitterness, destruction, or even death, such that Solomon called vanity, which led David into the troubles of his life. Please understand that there is a difference between relaxation and pleasure. Relaxation is a time out of work time to revitalize your mental effectiveness. It is often called recreation time. This help you refresh your mind, make your nerves relax, and ease you out of stress. It is not right to take that as a pleasure but rather as part of life. So also is taking a break to rest after a long time of working. That is why pleasure is actually psychological.
I believe the real pleasure of life is the aftertaste of achievement. Pleasure is therefore the joy of achievement. If this is your understanding, then you will no longer hate your work. You will work with joy. You will apply wisdom to all that you are doing to actually have the pleasure of achieving your goal in life. There could be a need for resting and relaxation sometimes. They are to recycle your strength to work. You’d better not let it become a pleasure to you. Put them to time and be set again to work. If not, it could turn you poor and to failure.
You are born to win, packaged to succeed, and you cannot afford to see life turn you down. Rise up and give your life a meaning by labouring to be an achiever. Then your generation will celebrate you.
Prayer: Lord, help me to define my
life goal and go for it.
“IF THE ENEMY COULD DECEIVE YOU INTO WORLDLY
PLEASURE HE WILL DEPRIVE YOU OF PROGRESS”
