There is no way anyone can be strong mentally or physically if he spends all his days fasting. Food is one of the most important things a humans needs to keep fit to win in the race of life. If anyone does not take time to eat good food, he may not be strong enough in life. But then, in the midst of these, there is still a need sometimes to deny oneself of food.
Fasting is a spiritual exercise that helps you to deny yourself of the influence of the flesh to concentrate during prayer. This helps to relate with God in effective fellowship and to enjoy the revelation of the word of God (Isaiah 58:1-8). But this needs to be controlled.
Some Christians today have turned
fasting into a hunger strike. Many have become fasting specialists. Many take
it as a way to bribe God when they sin. So they see fasting as what makes God
give mercy. Friend, you need to know that the devil is not afraid of your
fasting but your prayer from a genuine heart (Matthew 4:1-3). You need to know
that fasting is afflicting your soul to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit. New
level of anointing will always come when God shows you a new revelation of His
word (Jeremiah 33:3). So when you fast, give room to effective meditating over
the scriptures to bring solutions to your situations..
Friend, don’t fast without praying, don’t also fast in sorrow or when you lack food, that will be double affliction on your soul (2 Samuel 12:15-23). Your battle is the Lord’s. God expects you to grow your mind more. So, take time out to meditating in the word of God to receive instructions to move forward. You will not fail.
Prayer: Lord, help me not to die of
ignorance.
