JOY

JOY John 16:16-24  Devotional:- “Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.” (V. 20) NKJV God’s word says when sorrow endures till a night, joy comes in the morning (Psalms 30:5). This is an assurance and evidence that what is called sorrow is not a permanent situation in the life of a child of God. This is because it is certain that when a night comes, morning is always the next. The night is evidence of the coming morning. This is evidence that what you are going through right now will soon result in joy. In fact, the tougher it is, the closer the joy. May you see it. The scripture we read today gave us a new dimension of hope in our lives. Jesus said, our sorrow shall turn to joy. That which we think is a thing of sorrow shall suddenly become a thing of joy. Jesus likens it to a woman who is in labour. Women in this state often feel as if the end has come. But ...

Scripture Reading Matthew 16:13-23
Devotional:- “Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven” (V. 17) NKJV

It’s important we know that it is either a man is influenced by the Holy Spirit or by the spirit of the world. Knowing this will help us to choose which spirit should use us or inspire us at a time. That is why the word of God says; the spirit is subject to us (1 Corinthians 14:32). This means, we can make our choice.

The Holy Spirit inspired Peter to speak the truth about the person of Jesus in Matthew 16:16. Jesus commended him of being inspired by the Holy Spirit. Shockingly, in the same chapter, Peter allowed himself to be inspired by the devil and Jesus rebuked him (Matthew 16:23). This is because Peter was not conscious that the devil could speak through him. That is why the word of God told us to test every spirit (1 John 4:1).

You will see people acting wrongly and they will give the excuses that it was the devil. That is why you and I need to be deliberate in allowing only the spirit of God to inspire our actions. This is by been deliberate in testing every spirit before acting. Be sure the ideas or instructions in your spirit is according to the word of God. Measure every inspiration by the word of God. Make it a deliberate thing that in any place or situation is sure you are always inspired by the Holy Spirit. Either you are playing, joking with friends at home or in the office. Always connect with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and you shall be signs and wonders. Peace.

PRAYER: Lord, teach me only to allow your Spirit in my heart.

“IF YOU ARE NOT CONSCIOUSLY INSPIRED BY GOD, YOU WILL BE UNCONSCIOUSLY INSPIRED BY THE FLESH”
