JOY

JOY John 16:16-24  Devotional:- “Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.” (V. 20) NKJV God’s word says when sorrow endures till a night, joy comes in the morning (Psalms 30:5). This is an assurance and evidence that what is called sorrow is not a permanent situation in the life of a child of God. This is because it is certain that when a night comes, morning is always the next. The night is evidence of the coming morning. This is evidence that what you are going through right now will soon result in joy. In fact, the tougher it is, the closer the joy. May you see it. The scripture we read today gave us a new dimension of hope in our lives. Jesus said, our sorrow shall turn to joy. That which we think is a thing of sorrow shall suddenly become a thing of joy. Jesus likens it to a woman who is in labour. Women in this state often feel as if the end has come. But ...

PRAYING WITH A VOW

PRAYING WITH A VOW

1 SAMUEL 1:8-12
DEVOTIONAL “Then she made a vow and said, "O LORD of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head” (Vs. 11).

Praying with a vow is a catalyst to our prayers being answered. This is because, God has needs as much as we have needs. God is in need of men and women who will help Him to carry out His plan on earth (John 4:23). He needs people who will allow Him to use them to touch other people’s lives so as to perfect His will (Ezekiel 22:30).
When Hannah prayed in her time, she could discover one of the needs of Israel and made a vow. No one trained his or her child to serve the Lord faithfully. At that time, people indoctrinated their children to take to other professions so that they can become rich, but Hannah made a vow to release her son to serve the Lord and she fulfilled it. There was no king or ruler in the land at that time, yet God answered her prayers.

Friend, when you place a need before the Lord in prayers, try to know the needs of the house of God or of the servant of the Lord and strive to meet them. Be careful about making empty promises because God hates that. When you have it in heart (to meet such needs), heaven will approve your prayers so that the needs of God might be met through you. Learn to be as prompt as Hannah was in making and fulfilling her vow. As you do this, your prayers will be answered. Peace!

Prayer: Lord, help me to be mindful of your needs

“WHEN YOU MEET THE NEEDS OF GOD, HE WILL MEET YOUR NEEDS”.
