WAITING ON THE LORD

WAITING ON THE LORD 2 Samuel 5:1-10 Devotional:- “David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years” (v.4) NKJV One of the good virtues of God we must always appreciate is His faithfulness. God is not a man that will lie; whatever He has said in His word, He is able to do and He shall do. You can always plug yourself into His promises as much as you work in His covenants. I always tell people never to think God’s word is written only to some specific persons we hear or read about in the Bible. The word of God is the standard practice and programme of God. They were only privileged to be the ones to receive the word at their time, but God is still the same, and so is His word. In claiming the word of God, you must learn to be able to patiently wait. People who will retain their joy must add this virtue to their life (Hebrews 6:12). Our scripture today told us of the installation of David as king, but that was a promise he received from God when he was about 1...

COMFORT

COMFORT

Isaiah 61:1-11
Devotional Verse:- “To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified” (Vs. 3).

Mourning as it applies to the teachings of Jesus in Matthew 5:4, is a feeling of being inadequate in spirit. Anyone ‘mourning’ feels that he has missed a virtue in God that must be regained. Such a person feels that he is missing something of great value. However, God is always out to extend comfort.

In today’s Scripture, we can see the prophesy that was given about the ministry of Jesus and the assignment He had to carry out in the world. Jesus declared this manifestation in Luke 4:18-19. He came to comfort us and take away our mourning. Mourning in Zion applies to anyone facing a tough time but still remaining in Christ. You must remain in Christ no matter what you are going through. This is because it will lead to your comfort in the long run.

This is one of the factors of God’s blessings that make one end in joy and comfort if one remains in Christ. Keep your feet in Christ and you shall be comforted beyond your imagination in this coming year. Keep looking unto Jesus as the author and the finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). As you enter into the New Year, you and your family shall be comforted in Jesus name. Peace!

Prayer: Lord, comfort me in your mercy this year in Jesus’ name.
