One of the most valuable qualities God always desires to see in a man is his ability to obey instruction. It is often a difficult thing for men to obey what God is saying. This is due to the fact that self-will is still struggling with the will of God in us. Young people in this generation rather want to obey the views of their friends than of God. “Thy will be done, not my will be done.” We all need to learn to submit our will to His will. His will is the best, but since it is not visible to our mind, we assume that ours is better (Isaiah 48:17-18).

Jesus, having used the ship of Peter to preach, wants to reward him. So the reward came in the form of an instruction. Peter argued like some of us, but he obeyed nevertheless, and the dividend was great.

Friend, let us stop arguing God's instructions. Naaman would have missed his miracle if not for the little maid in his house (2 Kings 5:10-15). Great rewards are hidden in our obedience to God. His ways and His thoughts are far from ours (Isaiah 55:9). Jesus calls obedience wisdom (Matthew 7:24). Let us therefore be wise to always obey Him. Whatever He tells us to do will always produce great results sooner or later (John 2:5, Isaiah 48:17).

Prayer: Lord, grant me the grace for obedience.

“IF ONLY YOU WILL OBEY THEN YOU WILL SEE HIS GLORY”
