FAITHFUL SERVANT

1 Samuel 18:1-5

“So David went out wherever Saul sent him, and behaved wisely. And Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people and also in the sight of Saul's servants.” (V.5) NKJV

One of the common routes to greatness available for most people on earth is the opportunity to voluntarily serve. But most men do not know how to use it for their lifting, so they remain slaves in hard labour. Many believe that serving is a waste. Service itself is an opportunity created by God for the lifting of men, but most people do not know how to make the most of it.

In the scripture we read today is David in the service of King Saul. You will agree with me that it is quite a privilege to work in the office of the king. It wasn't long after David came to the king’s service that he became a commander despite the people he met there. How possible? God’s word says he behaved himself wisely. This wisdom is not in being cunning but in faithfulness to all his assignments.

Jesus said, He that is faithful in little qualifies himself for more (Luke 16:10). Service will only open its opportunity to those who will be faithful in their assignment (Luke 16:11-12). Faithfulness in your service is beyond just being there to do it, but doing it as the master wants it done (Matthew 24:45-47). Ask for the Spirit of the fear of God for faithfulness, and you will open yourself to greater opportunities. Peace.

Prayer: Lord, give me grace for faithfulness in all my deeds.
